So I'm on my 10th month of unemployment and I feel like I have to do something to help my situation, so if anyone has any recommendations or tips for me.
Any of those are great. You might also consider doing volunteer work. It looks great on your resume and will give you some contacts for the all important networking.
Unless you can afford to wait through more classes, I'd say start seeing if you can get an entry level job in accounting right now if that's your interest.
Most firms are hiring for tax season right now. I was hired with 9 others right out of college back years ago. It was all supposed to be temporary and end May 1st, but I proved myself and they offered me permanent employment after that. I worked in big firms for almost 15 years before starting my own practice.
I read somewhere a few months ago that accounting will be one of the top five fields to continue growth right now.
Might want to sign up with one or more temp. services. I see you've already done some volunteer work so you might want to try more of that for now. I don't really have too many other suggestions. Oh- I just re-read your post. I see that you have already checked into temp. services.
I currently finished all my education requirements and I'm taking the CPA exam right now, the job market is rough even with all of that. I would only take those accounting class if you really have a desire and a passion to do it. Try and find an entry-level job in accounting to see if you'd like it. Do you like teaching? Go for what you really like , not what other people are telling you to do.
