Does anyone else here feel embarrassed when you apply for a job as opposed to when you interview? Or are you equally embarrassed in both situations

I totally feel you on this one. I feel like when I walk away they're going to be talking about how I wouldn't fit in or how they would never hire me. Or when I'm asking at places that don't have signs out it's always sad/weird to find out they're not hiring. It's always odd and somewhat embarrassing to me.

I get that, I'm afraid. It's something of a feeling of vulnerability. You are after all putting yourself on the line in a way when you apply.
