Title: Hero
Characters: Finn, Kurt (Brittany/Santana mentioned)
Summary: Well, after watching Mash-off, I just couldn't stop thinking about Kurt going all Lima Heights on Finn's ass for what he did to Santana. While RIB wouldn't give us that scene, I tried to.

Hero

He turned the key in the lock and with a creak, pushed the door open. He was welcomed by sounds of guns being fired and shouts in pain coming from the living room. Kurt furrowed his brow, he couldn’t believe Finn could just be playing some horribly violent video game right now. Kurt had always hated Finn’s choice of video games, Kurt preferred The Sims, but he just couldn’t understand how Finn could simply forget the day’s happenings and lose himself in some stupid game. He stomped his feet on the mat, leaving the little dirt that was on them on it, and then immediately marched into the living room where his stepbrother was focused entirely on the television screen.

He just sat there, bashing his fingers wildly on the controller buttons, completely devoted to his game. Kurt felt the anger start to boil again, his knuckles turning white from his clenching fists. He raised his arms, and in a swift motion threw his bag on the floor, releasing some of the anger that was pumping through his body. The taller boy jumped a little at the sound of the object landing with a loud thud, but kept his eyes focused on the screen nonetheless.

“What’s up, dude?” he said smugly, still slamming his fingers wildly on the buttons, “trouble in paradise?”

Kurt, who was still standing at the entrance of the room, clenched his jaw in frustration before walking up to his stepbrother. Finn shot him a quick glance, but then immediately turned his attention to the battlefield in front of him again. Apparently the short motion of his eyes was enough to put him in a disadvantaged position in his game, because he creased his brow and clenched his jaw in concentration.

Kurt could only watch in disbelief how his stepbrother seemed to have more attention for his game than for Kurt

“Die, you ass! Die!” Finn screamed, oblivious to the smaller boy’s stare.

Kurt didn’t exactly know if it was for all the things that happened today, the adrenaline pumping through his veins or just the ignorant attitude from Finn that made him do it, but something inside of him snapped.

“What the hell is wrong with you?!” he exclaimed while stomping in front of the television.

“Well, you’re blocking my view,” Finn answered while swaying his body, trying to get his vision on the television back, “and I really need to win this game to go up in the ranks. So if you’ll just give me a minute, I’ll finish this game, then listen to you about whatever Blaine has done to make you mad…” his tongue poked a bit out of his mouth while trying to kill one of his opponents, “and then I’ll go talk to him tomorrow, okay?”

The tall boy seemed very pleased with himself. Kurt, on the other hand, stomped his boot-clad foot on the floor again, putting all the anger he had coursing through his body to it. His hands moved towards Finn’s, which were holding the controller. Finn watched in shock how his stepbrother grabbed the device forcefully from his sweaty hands.

With a flick of his wrist, Kurt threw the controller across the room in a swift and powerful motion. The object landed with a thud, and the impact of the landing caused the batteries fall out.

Finn watched in shock how his precious toy seemed to be destroyed.

“What the..” he stammered, his eyebrows furrowed in anger, but Kurt interjected: “You always want to be the hero, don’t you?” he yelled, pointing a slender, perfectly manicured finger at the stammering boy. Finn could only watch his stepbrother in confusion. “You always think you are the person to fix everything, right?” Kurt continued. “No matter what problem, because Finn Hudson will walk in and make everything just right!” he spat.

Kurt wasn’t a person to become mad very quickly, but this time Finn managed to get the anger pumping. He knew the boy wasn’t the brightest person walking the earth, but he didn’t expect him to be this damn ignorant.

Finn opened and closed his mouth a few times, trying to form words. When he was finally able to speak again he said:

“What are you talking about?” causing the other boy to snap his head back, and stare at the ceiling in frustration.

“You really don’t get it, do you?” Kurt sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger.

“Well, obviously you’re really angry with me, because you just threw your two hundred dollar designer bag across the room,” Finn pointed at the object, “not to mention my Xbox controller, which is probably dead by now.” He scanned the room for it, his brow furrowing in anger at seeing the state of the device. He turned his head back to his stepbrother. “But honestly, no, I have no idea what the hell you’re talking about.”

He stood up from the couch, walking over to the controller and bending to pick it, along with the batteries, up. After a few seconds of fumbling with the thing, it seemed to work again, and Finn walked back to the couch, ready to resume his game.

“Are you really that stupid?!” the shorter boy yelled in anger.

Finn sighed hard in frustration. “Then tell me what the hell you’re talking about! Jeez.”

“I’m talking about Santana!”

Finn’s eyes widened a bit and his brow creased. He seemed shocked, and putted the controller next to him on the couch. His mouth was hanging a bit open while he stared at his stepbrother in confusion.

“So…,” Finn started, but paused, searching for words. “Let me get this straight,” he sighed, while running a hand through his dark locks.

“You,” he pointed his finger at Kurt, “are mad at me,” he pointed at himself, “because of Santana?!” he asked as if it was the weirdest thing on earth.  “Why do you even care?” His arms were now spread, palms faced to the ceiling.

Kurt smacked the palm of his hand against his forehead in frustration. Somehow, he just couldn’t make the boy understand why he was upset, and why it was wrong what he did. Finn seemed to get more confused with every word he said, which made Kurt only the more frustrated.

“Really, Finn, it’s because I’m too young for hair implants, but otherwise I would’ve pulled all of my hair out, one by one, because of my frustration,” he grumbled.

A raised eyebrow was his answer. Finn got up from the couch, he was tired of this pointless conversation.

“Why do you even care? All she does is being a bitch to everyone all the time, and honestly, I’m sick of it. She bitches to everyone, and now you’re angry because I said something back? Have you forgotten all the nasty remarks she made to you?”

“You OUTED her, you moron!” Kurt yelled back. He jumped a little at the volume of his own voice, he wasn’t used to using it at this volume, besides when it had some musical purpose of course. Finn also was surprised about his brother yelling at him. He wasn’t used to Kurt yelling, or even being angry.

“And you know what, Finn? Yeah, I remember all the remarks she made. I remember all the times she called me a girl,” Kurt said, “but I also remember her standing up to Karofsky for me. Something you didn’t, because you were too busy with your reputation!”

It was true. When his own brother didn’t stand up for him, Santana did. Kurt never really understood why she did that, but now it all became clear to him.

Finn ignored the part of standing up to Karofsky, still a bit ashamed of it, and just answered: “what’s the problem? Everyone already knew!”

He opened his mouth to say something more, but Kurt cut him off.

“It doesn’t matter, Finn! Sure, everyone suspected something between them, but now it’s official. You should know, after all I’ve been through, how high school kids are. She is going to get a rough time, and it’s all because of you! You always think you’re the hero. The mighty Finn that will make everything alright,” he paused, gasping for air, “But you know what, Finn? This time you are the cause of the whole problem. Today, you took something really personal from someone. You took the opportunity to deal with it on her own terms from her. You just ruined a very important piece of her life, something she can never get back.”

Finn just stared at him, eyes widened, brow furrowed and jaw dropped. Kurt couldn’t really see if he got it, but nevertheless he continued:

“And when that add begins to run, and the whole school is babbling about her and Brittany and slushies are being thrown at her, I hope you see that that’s all your fault.”

He bent over to get his bag from the floor, swung it over his shoulder, and with one last glare at Finn, left the room.
