CHAPTER 5

“Oh, you're awake.” Jessica noted, entering her bed room.

Tiffany had on a sleepy smile and started to stretch and yawn to shake the sleep from her. Tiredly, she rubbed her eyes and notice that Jessica had a towel wrapped around her. Tiffany carefully got out of bed to not trip over the sheets again. She stretched out more to get rid of any aches in her body.

“You don't have any work today do you?” Jessica asked, not remembering why Tiffany was to wake up at this time.

“No, I just have a class today.” Tiffany answered, glancing at the alarm clock beside her bed. “What is your schedule today?”

“Well, I have work today, but I'm going to stay some extra hours. I'll probably won't be home until ten tonight.” Jessica answered, watching Tiffany frown.

She walked over to her girlfriend and pouted. “Can't you just take a break? You look so tired.” Tiffany stated, putting both hands on Jessica's face, examining her.

Jessica's hands clasped around Tiffany's wrist and slowly removed her hands to threaded her fingers through Tiffany's in a secure hold. She knew that Tiffany was always worried about her and there were times when Tiffany acted more like a mother than a girlfriend. That annoyed Jessica at first, but she started to enjoy it and even though they never got to see each other when Jessica felt lonely or sad she would call Tiffany just to receive her nurturing words and Jessica felt better.

Although, it was sad that most of their talks or bonding was done through a small electronic device and still didn't beat the amount of warmth Tiffany gave off her to Jessica when they were together physically.

“I can say the same for you, but I have to go to work and get those extra hours. How else can we keep this apartment?” Jessica reminded.

Tiffany let out a groan. Jessica chuckled and tied her arms around Tiffany's waist, unable to resist how cute she looked as she started to pout. Tiffany smiled at the close contact and Jessica felt herself stare at the bright smile in front of her. Tiffany looked at her and put her arms around Jessica's neck.

“You know, I work too to help with the rent. You don't have to feel that it's just your responsibility.” Tiffany added.

“I know.” Jessica agreed, then leaned forward to close the distance between their faces.

The pout on Tiffany's face was gone and replaced with a more calm expression. Jessica held her tighter in her arms, enjoying the closeness she had with her girlfriend, knowing that they won't be able to do this until maybe tomorrow morning. Tiffany's hand wandered away from Jessica's neck and slid down to her bare shoulder.

Slowly, Tiffany's nail ran along the length of Jessica's shoulder and down to her exposed collar bone. A low moan was released from Jessica's mouth in return. Tiffany grinned, her finger resting on the edge of the towel, sneakily finding a way to untie the towel around Jessica's slender body.

A large grin came to Tiffany's face when she heard Jessica moan, but that proud smile was quickly over when Jessica finally had the strength to push Tiffany away. They stood in front of one another, completely out of breath and in a slight daze. Jessica ran a finger along her lips, still remembering the passionate kiss.

“I um...” Jessica put a hand to her cheek and laughed.

“Awe...Jessi you're so cute~!” Tiffany laughed, reaching out to pinch Jessica's redden cheeks.

Jessica swatted her hands away and pouted. “You're being distracting! I have to go to work, okay?” Jessica stated.

Tiffany grinned and leaned closer to her girlfriend. “You can always just skip work.”

Jessica held out her hand and put it against Tiffany's chest to push her away. “You are not helping!” Jessica whined.

Tiffany laughed. She found Jessica even cute when she was angry or frustrated. She was also laughing because she was able to get a little bit of pay back from yesterday when Tiffany had to tutor Seohyun.

“Alright, I'll leave you alone. I need to get ready too.” Tiffany agreed.

“Oh, I made breakfast for you before I went to shower. It's in the kitchen.” Jessica announced. “You should eat it before it gets cold.”

She turned back to her dresser, leaving Tiffany to wonder about the meal Jessica set up. Tiffany knew Jessica wasn't a very good cook. A lot of her girlfriend's food either ended up burned, overcooked, or completely bland.

So, in order to be able to keep this apartment, Tiffany banned Jessica from cooking unless she around and they usually either ordered food or ate out. Tiffany was a bit of a better cook, but since she came home late mostly she didn't have time to cook. It was normal to have a rush of fear before trying one of Jessica's dishes. Tiffany knew though that if she didn't at least try the food Jessica would be upset.

She's probably spent at least an hour preparing the food. Tiffany made her way into the kitchen and saw a collection of three plates set at the table, each dish held a different meal. Tiffany started to smile seeing that Jessica had prepared an American meal for her and placed neatly in a row was sunny side up eggs with sausage, pancakes, and bacon.

She had to admit the food looked appealing and nothing was burned. Tiffany was impressed, feeling her stomach growl she sat down at the kitchen table and picked up her fork to take a bite of the eggs. The taller woman was surprised to see that the eggs were not bland, but full of rich flavor.

Cutting another small piece to her eggs, Tiffany wondered how Jessica improved on her skills. That questioning didn't last long because Tiffany got a glance of the clock in the kitchen and saw she had to start getting ready for class. At a much quicker pace, Tiffany tried to eat most of her food and make sure that each dish was eaten at least once before getting up to get ready for the day.

“You're late.” A dark skinned woman angrily stated, as Jessica entered her shop.

Jessica turned around to face her boss and owner of the bakery shop. Jessica bowed and greeted the taller girl then let out an apology to her tardiness. The women with short brown hair crossed her arms, wearily eying Jessica.

“I'm sorry Sooyoung. I didn't expect the bus ride to take too long today.” Jessica replied, making her way to the back room, marked employees only.

Sooyoung followed her into the back room. The tough tomboyish woman was never as strict, but since she was allowing Jessica to come in for extra hours and be taught personal lessons on how to cook, Sooyoung demanded that Jessica at least show up earlier or on time to the private lessons. She was doing Jessica a favor and one that required more work and focus than she had anticipated.

When Jessica first came to her bakery Sooyoung was quick to deny her the job. The blonde had a resume that showed not a single cooking skill listed. Jessica had just worked at local low paying jobs, and as a college student her major was listed as an English major with a minor of cultural studies. It confused the skilled baker as to why Jessica would want such a job.

She even said herself that her cooking skills were poor. Sooyoung didn't have the time to train someone to work an oven or how to make dough for that matter, but there was something about the small girl that made Sooyoung listen. It was probably the list of reasons why Jessica wanted this job and it wasn't just to better her skills at working a stove, but she wanted to go through the trouble and frustration to learn and cook for another person.

It surprised Sooyoung that Jessica asked for a job like that for just one person, but also moved Sooyoung that she was willing to do such a generous act. Quickly, she agreed and although she figured Jessica at least knew some basics to cooking the first day on the job almost cost Sooyoung her shop and a busted oven that needed extensive repairs if not to be replaced with an entirely new oven. There was a lot of money at stake when it came to Jessica and a kitchen.

Yet, Sooyoung still worked on her determined pupil, even if there was a time that Sooyoung tasted one of Jessica's meals and felt sick for the entire day. She did not give up on her worker and can proudly say that Jessica has improved not largely, but there was never smoking coming out of an oven when it use and now the food didn't come out completely charted or undercooked. Jessica was learning and she was becoming better.

“When will your anniversary take place?” Sooyoung curiously asked.

Jessica put on her apron and tied it around her waist, before turning back to her boss. Eventually after all the prying Jessica had told Sooyoung who the special person was that inspired Jessica to hone her cooking skills. She was not ashamed to tell that the person she was so deeply in love with was a girl, but she was surprised at how calm Sooyoung took the news.

It didn't seem to bother her. She even encouraged Jessica to learn more and to strive even harder. Jessica somehow felt shy again and glanced down to her feet.

“In about four months.” Jessica lowly replied. “I think I've improved though! Today, I made breakfast for her.”

“Oh, how did that go?” Sooyoung curiously asked.

Jessica had on a bright smile at the sweet memory. Tiffany had quickly came running to her and hugged her followed by a very loud thank you. The pleasant reaction from Tiffany had made the hard work Jessica put into each meal worth it. It made the private lessons feel worth it also.

“She really liked it.” Jessica grinned. “I think she'll really like what I plan for our fourth anniversary.”

Sooyoung smiled and pulled Jessica into a hug. It didn't take much to know Jessica to know that when the topics had to do about her girlfriend she not only loved Tiffany but cared about her as if she were the petite girl's world. Jessica always had this love struck smile on her face. Jessica was proud of Tiffany and even more proud of their three year relationship just as much.

It was cute to see someone this in love. It kind of made Sooyoung a little sad at times, being that she herself is single and finding someone to date just seemed to be a difficult task for her. But, she was happy to see Jessica this happy herself about her relationship. It was love at its finest. Sooyoung patted Jessica on the back then released her from their hug.

“Come on, let's begin. I think by no time you'll be able to sweep Tiffany right off her feet.” Sooyoung encouraged.

Jessica nodded and walked towards kitchen in the back to get ready. Four months started to feel too long for Jessica. She wished just once that it would come quickly, especially since this time she didn't forget it unlike last year.

It was a much more busier year then, so she was glad that Tiffany easily forgave her for forgetting. She knew that Tiffany was hurt even if she denied it, so Jessica made it up to her and this year will be even better than before. Jessica looked forward to spending a romantic anniversary with Tiffany. She wondered if Tiffany will feel just the same.
