CHAPTER 6

Tiffany came on campus an hour earlier, but that wasn't an odd thing in her agenda. She had tried to come to classes earlier so that she can go over the material again, followed by more note taking in her notebook, and various annotations in the margins of her textbooks. The hardworking student wanted to come to her classes fully prepared for discussions of the topics that were expected to be read as the assigned homework.

Today, she was more concentrated on getting to the library to do some more studying for a test. Tiffany was confident the test won't a difficult one, being that she studies a week before the test day because she knew that it will be almost impossible to study at home. Tiffany is mostly busy so there are many times when she takes her break from work to study instead of eating lunch.

The long haired student felt oddly energized today despite having another packed schedule and concluded it must have been because of the breakfast she ate today. Tiffany smiled to herself at Jessica sweet gesture and mentally reminded herself to thank Jessica again, along with questioning how the small blonde had gotten so good at cooking. Tightly holding on to the cup of coffee in her hand, Tiffany picked up her pace to hurry toward the university entrance.

“Hey, we meet again!”

Tiffany jumped, feeling someone's hand on her arm tapping her. She took out her earphones and turned around. Tiffany spotted a familiar face smiling back at her. Removing her sunglasses too, she looked to get a better view to the person claiming to know her and smiled in return.

“Yuri, what are you doing here? Are you waiting for class?” Tiffany questioned, feeling a little unease to Yuri's presence.

“I'm just waiting for Seohyun to show up. She wanted me to come and help her out with some dance moves.” Yuri explained. “She's been really concerned about her skills since she plans to dance for some special occasion.” Yuri put on a big grin and giggled. “I think she's planning to ask Yoona on a date. Isn't she so cute?”

There was a wave of guilt that entered Tiffany when she noticed how open her two freshmen were being about their love for one another. If Yuri knew about their possible growing interest it had to mean that they were more comfortable with their decision to date. A complete contrast to the grounds that Tiffany's relationship stood with Jessica.

There has even been a time where Jessica asked if Tiffany was ashamed of their relationship. There was a small pause. Yuri frowned, noticing the lack of conversation Tiffany would normally start.

“What's wrong?” Yuri worriedly asked. “You're not freaked out by them dating are you?”

“Huh? Oh, no I'm not at all! I'm fine with it.” Tiffany corrected. “Love is love, you know?”

“That's how I've always thought of it.” Yuri nodded in agreement. “Although, seeing my best friend possibly get a girlfriend, it makes me want someone of my own. I've been single for way too long. Are you single too?”

Tiffany froze. It was a question she never wanted to come across in public. It was too difficult to answer. She wanted to say no, but if she did then it was only normal for the person asking to ask who the person is. That's when the question became hard, but it was just as difficult because if she had said yes then Tiffany will feel guilt. She can imagine Jessica's face if she heard Tiffany say yes and she can also picture the anger Jessica will be in after feeling crushed.

“Um...s-sort of.” Tiffany answered, wondering if this was better than no or worse.

“I see. One of those hard to break up with boyfriends? Well, I know one way that can get the memo through to that thickheaded guy.” Yuri ensured. “A party! That usually sends guys the news instantly. He'll see how much fun you're having without him and how better off you are single. You know, there's a party on campus tomorrow night. You should come. I'm going to be performing with my group too. I can use your support.”

For the first year of attending college Tiffany had attended every campus party thrown. She enjoyed dancing and occasionally drinking with a few friends, but she gave that up the day she got together with Jessica. The blonde was not much of a party goer and didn't like to stay up late worrying if Tiffany made it home safe from endless hours of partying.

Sometimes, the brunette didn't come home at all, but crashed at a friend's house because either she was too tired to drive or too drunk to do it. That always got on Jessica's nerves and the two lovers got into a handful of arguments because of Tiffany's once party all night life style. Eventually, she had stopped to make Jessica happy and to save their relationship. The raven-haired woman had not dared to go to another party after that. Yuri firmly shook Tiffany's arm to get her attention again.

“Oh, come on! It'll be fun. Besides, I bet you spend so much time reading books you can pass any test with your eyes closed.” Yuri begged, seeing that Tiffany was against the proposal.

“I don't know. I really have to study for my classes. I'm way too busy!” Tiffany protested.

“Just one party. I promise I'll drive you home when I'm done performing.” Yuri bargained. “What do I have to do to let you stay there for at least an hour? Do you want me to buy you some drinks?”

Tiffany pulled her arm back, having enough of Yuri's shaking. Slowly, Tiffany watched a bright smile come to Yuri's face, realizing she's won the hardworking student over. Tiffany sighed, wondering why she's decided to just give in to Yuri's request?

She knew Jessica won't like the idea of her going to a party. It has only been two years, but Jessica would want Tiffany to never return to a single party ever again. How can Tiffany get around telling Jessica why she had left tomorrow night when she should be at home studying or working. The blonde knew the brunette's schedule and tomorrow night Tiffany was free from any work.

That meant she should be studying or completing homework. What can Tiffany tell her girlfriend if she did leave in the middle of the night? The answer was simple, a lie, but Tiffany never wanted to do that.

She knew a relationship should be based on honesty, but how can she explain to Jessica she's leaving to go to a campus party? The smaller girl will be upset, even angry about it and ready to protest. Tiffany sighed.

Yuri had promised just an hour and that should be enough for Tiffany. The taller woman wanted her there for support. She will be nervous probably performing in a crowd. Maybe, if Tiffany attended she'll give Yuri some confidence. Tiffany smiled, settling with that thought as her reasoning.

“Okay, I'll go.” Tiffany agreed. “I'm only going to stay there for an hour. You will have to drop me off when I say I want to leave. Got it?”

Yuri's smile stretched even wider. Tiffany wasn't sure if she should regret her decision. She still felt guilt, or was it Jessica's wrath she felt? If she knew what Tiffany wanted to do there wouldn't be an argument, at first, because Jessica's nature when angry was to just cry and leave.

An argument isn't usually done unless Tiffany starts it and then the both of them explode into their different fits of rage. Tiffany will scream and repeat things, talking over Jessica's soft voice, because hers is just too loud. Jessica will sob, but at the same time yell because she can't help herself. Tiffany already knew the scene in her head.

“Alright, just an hour. I promise. I'll come pick you up. Let me have your cell number. I'll give you mine.” Yuri agreed, fishing into her pocket to yank out a black flip-phone.

Reluctantly, Tiffany exchanged numbers with Yuri. There was a gut feeling the older one got when Yuri had asked for her number. She wasn't quiet sure why she agreed, but she didn't want to face another awkward situation where she told Yuri to erase her number then have the younger one expect a reason. Tiffany was not yet ready to bring up Jessica as her girlfriend.

“I'll come to your place at nine, but you'll have to text me your address.” Yuri explained. “I'll see you tomorrow night, bye.”

Yuri left and Tiffany felt less guilty with her gone, but then she also felt worried. She wondered if she had done the right thing. Yuri was just a friend, or someone she happened to meet at a dance class and somehow managed to meet here on her way to class.

There was nothing to be scared about. Tiffany was allowed to make friends. Her life didn't revolve around just books, classes, work, and Jessica. She had a right to have some fun too. Remembering the reason why she came to campus in the first place, Tiffany quickly began to walk towards the college entrance. She was sure she barely had time to re-read over some lessons now. The panicking about tomorrow party can come to her another time. She had to get to class on time at the moment.

“What's with the stupid face?”

Yuri turned around and glared at her best friend. With her best friend boring a playful grin, Yuri pushed the chuckling girl and frowned, annoyed at the grin that still stayed on her face. When Yuri's back was turned away from her friend, she put both hands to her cheeks, feeling how hot they are from blushing.

Yuri took a deep breath to try and hold a calmer face, with much difficulty. That only gave her another fit of laughter in return as her best friend saw right passed her straining frown. Yuri let out a high-pitched shriek and turned away.

“Will ya stop laughing already?!” Yuri complained. “Yoona, you're so annoying!”

The younger one controlled her laughing and walked over to Yuri. She wrapped her arm around Yuri's neck and pulled her into a one-armed hug. Yoona had never seen Yuri so embarrassed after talking to a girl.

She normally will pick fun at Yuri and Yuri will do the same to her, but neither of them were never effected by the teasing. Yuri for once, had a different reaction and while it was amusing to Yoona it was also funny. The two of them walked over to a bench because Yoona was curious to how Yuri's approach went with the girl that caught Yuri's interest.

“She must be really something if she's got you this embarrassed.” Yoona noticed. “I'm guessing your proposal went well?”

Yuri smiled. “I'm going to be seeing her again tomorrow night.” She replied.

“You must really like her.” Yoona stated, carefully watching Yuri's face.

There was just another smile and a small pause between the two. Yoona raised her brow at her best friend, seeing that this large goofy smile came to Yuri's face. Her eyes looked glazed over as she entered some dream like state. That alone was enough to answer Yoona's question and the younger girl smiled.

She was happy for Yuri. The prankster can't remember the last time seeing Yuri this happy. That made Yoona felt less guilty since she's about a step away from making Seohyun her girlfriend. She didn't want to make Yuri feel left out or lonely once her and Seohyun become a couple.

Now, the only thing Yuri had to do was get the courage to ask this girl that caught her interest out. From careful observation, Yoona knew that Yuri will be playing it safe when it's time to ask the girl out. She wondered if that's where she steps in to help or maybe Yuri might be able to do it herself tomorrow at the party. Yoona wasn't sure, but she was just glad to see Yuri in this bright and energetic state.

“Yeah, I do.” Yuri finally admitted, turning back to her best friend. “I don't want to screw up with this one.”

Yoona stood up and positioned herself in front of Yuri. “Well, you won't. Just as long as she doesn't know that you're stalking her.”

“I am not stalking her!” Yuri protested.

Yoona laughed. “Yeah, says the person who asked Seohyun about what college she goes to. I'm sure you even got her schedule, or are you going to say meeting her today was just pure coincidence?” The younger girl explained.

Yuri stood up and punched Yoona in the arm. “It was just luck to meet her today! I was supposed to meet Seohyun, which by the way...still isn't here! Where is your soon to be girlfriend?!” Yuri complained.

Yoona rubbed her arm, but couldn't stop herself from smiling. Yuri was blushing again and that was still a sight very amusing to Yoona. She wondered how many time she can get the tan-skinned girl to blush in just a day. That was an interesting challenge.

“You idiot. Don't you remember that she told you to meet her at the cafe across from campus?” Yoona reminded her friend. “You probably forgot the second you saw...whatever her name is.”

Yuri groaned, realizing her silly mistake. It was a good thing Yoona was around at the time when she came here. She probably would have stayed outside all day waiting for Seohyun, who was probably at the campus long before Yuri arrived. But then she saw Yoona's grin and Yuri regretted having her near her to witness this mistake. Yuri gave her best friend another hit in the arm.

“Let's just get out of here.” She grumbled, learning to hate Yoona's laughs.

“Alright. I'll buy you a coffee. It's on me.” Yoona volunteered.

Yuri smiled again, but this time it was brighter. And Yoona was sure there is almost a jump in her step as she walked along side her. Already, the older one's position started to change and her face was almost glowing.

Yoona had to admit, she liked this side of Yuri and hoped everything went fine the night of the party. Yoona was confident Yuri will get the person she's pinning after. She had already taken the bait.
