It's right downtown (it's part of U of T). It's extremely handy to stuff; it's like a two-minute walk from the subway and the Royal Ontario Museum, 5-10 minutes to Yonge Street, 5 minutes to Bloor Street, etc. Not having been in the residences, I don't know how reasonable $47/night is for a room, but I don't think you'd be likely to do much better downtown...

sweet. Thanks. I saw a map but I mean - Bloor is really really long isn't it? So I wasn't sure. Excellent. :)

Apparently the $47/night is apartment style - 2 to 1 bathroom sharing the apartment with another student. And it includes breakfast. Wicked.

$47/night should be fine. It won't exactly be regal living, but it shouldn't be too bad. Did they mention which residence you'll be in?

They didn't say which one - I won't be registering for a few more weeks yet. I'm waiting to hear from my boss if I can stay at her friend's house...not sure I want to actually...but it's for free. hm.

Anyway, all I really need is a place to sleep and shower. And maybe some time to read or something.

i don't think you'd do better than that for downtown Toronto and with an apartment you could make your own meals and keep food and stuff in the fridge to make lunches with as well.

Well, I figured I wouldn't get cheaper, but could I get better value. Like I would probably pay $20 extra a day for my own place.

Or, you know, just in general if anyone's been to these rooms. They have a pic online of the regular rooms. I haven't seen the apartment-style ones, so I'm not sure if that really means there's a kitchen or what. They didn't mention it. I'm also not sure if I have to find someone to share it with me or if they would just put me with someone...hm.

The last time we stayed in downtown Toronto, we stayed at the Traveller's Motel or something like that and it was $80/night I think - that was like 5 years ago. And it was the cheapest we could find, but not bad - it was right on Queen I think.

Well.... it's a residence, i suppose they aren't that different from each other. How long are you there?

true :) I'm there for 11 days in July - the apartment-style ones are a/c :) The regular rooms are $40/night - that's just a single bed and a desk and you have to across the hall for the toilettes. I figure it's worth the extra $7...probably just for the a/c. heh.
