I have a bunch of pink and yellow fluffy thick fleece and want to make a couple of baby blankets for 2 friends who are adopting chinese babies this year

but my nana made some fleece blankets this year. she cut little 7x7 squares, fraid the edges (each about a 1/2 in. wide), then she sowed the squares together and the base of the flappy pieces allowing the fraid part to stick out. i hope i'm detailing this enough for you. my idea is good for the center part as well as the edges, but you can always leaves the edges plain and add the loops instead.
i bet you blankies well be lovely, no matter how you make them.
this involves zero sewing: cut 2 squares of felt (one can be a solid color, the other a pattern that matches the color) lay them one on top of the other. cut strips all the way around about 1 to 1 1/2 inches deep, and about 1 inch apart. it should look frayed like an indians clothes. go through and tie the two pieces of felt together by their matching strips allll the way around. be sure to tie them tightly, or they might come undone in the washer.
