The darkness was comfortable, actually, and Katie thought it might be nice to stay there, until it started to get brighter and the pain kicked in. She groaned, and struggled to open her eyes, only to feel a cool hand on her forehead, and a soothing melody she couldn't seem to understand. She blinked, and found herself looking up at Daphne's face, and did her grey blue eyes look...worried?
Well, she should be worried, after knocking her off of her broom! "Happy now?" Katie said, trying to sit up, and noticed, startled, that Daphne had brought her to the infirmary, not left her out on the field. "Blagging is a foul, you know."
Daphne ignored the sneering comment. "Madam Pomfrey, she's awake!" Daphne called out, and then as the portly nurse appeared, she leaned over and whispered. "I didn't blag you."
Katie could barely focus on the words, when Daphne's face was so close to hers, and she had to remind herself that not only did she have Alicia, but that Daphne was the big, nasty Slytherin who had knocked her off her broom.
Well okay, in no way could Daphne be considered big, and it wasn't nasty of her to bring her to the infirmary, and stay by her....and she wasn't sure that Daphne had knocked her off her broom but...she was still a Slytherin, after all. That wasn't a good reason to be rude though--was it?
"So, I guess you won." Katie said, a bit bitterly, still almost certain that Daphne had cheated.
"We can call it a draw." Daphne offered. "Do it again when your better."
"No," Katie said irritably. "I play fair. I fell and got knocked out. You win by default. You know that."
"I was just saying..."
"Save it." Katie said, still irritated on being thrown off her broom for the first time in ages, and uncomfortable with the attraction she felt, for of all people, a Slytherin. "You won the bet, just find me an ari...whatever."
Daphne moved away, annoyed. "Fine." She said sharply. "but if you get over your pride and feel like trying to do a decent job, I go to the music room during my free period and after classes, if you'd like a little help. Think me a bitch if you like, but I'm not that much of a bitch."
The words made Katie feel guilty, but only for the moment until Pomfrey made her swallow down some disgusting potion.
