Excellent work on this. I could believe every small slide, and every detail. It's very Torchwood, in the deals made and the devils lost to.

You left a beta note in.

Thank you.

(And thank you for the heads up!)

This was great. The no-win situations, the deals (did Crowthar take a tip from a colleague in Bristol, one wonders?), and Gwen's final solitude... all excellent.

Three (small) typos:

instead of rather than being
barley nodding in response
He pushed to door open

Well, Bristol and Cardiff aren't that far from each other...

Thanks for your comment (especially noticing the typos. That will teach me to edit and post things when I come home from the pub).

I hope I can say this right . . . I've spent a lot of time hating the Gwen character from the Torchwood episodes, well, when I wasn't being indifferent to her (first season).
All the right elements were there for a great character, but they were never properly put together until CoE, then I still had a hard time with her because she lived because she was RTD's favourite character.
The only time I think she got to shine was between season 1 and 2, and well, we never got to see it so I don't know whether it counts or not.

I am grateful for stories like this, few and far between, that show how great Gwen could have been, while still keeping all the flaws and character traits she had on the show. It's funny to say I really loved this story, considering how grim it was, but I do, and I thank you very much for it.

Thanks.

I love Gwen as a character but even I wasn't a huge fan during season 1. I think that the character has the burden of being in the same role as the companions in Dr Who with regard to them being the audience entry point, someone they can identify with and 'good' people. In Dr Who, though, the companions usually have the Doctor to back them up so they're usually protected from the worst of their mistakes. With Gwen there isn't.

Which is a very long winded way of saying I find the character fascinating so I'm glad you liked how the characterisation in this story worked.

Oh that *hurts*

Gorgeous Gwen. Horribly believable, and perfectly in character.

Thanks. I'm glad you liked the characterisation, it was one of the things I was really worried about.
