Mica Davies is special.

She knew she was. Not because sometimes Mrs Griffiths would look at her books and give her a sticker, then go on and on about ‘potential’ and ‘effort’ and making something of herself. And not because after the funeral, her dad had pulled her and David close (her dad who was good at racing on the computer and piggyback rides ( Read more... )

I love this so, so much. The way you've linked it all together is brilliant and Mica's relationship with Jack is lovely if not a little bittersweet.

Thanks. I'm glad it all hung together for you. I did grow exceptionally fond of Jack's relationship with Mica as I was writing this.

This is... magnificent. I have goosebumps from that last paragraph. So sad, so Jack. WOW.

Thank you. The last paragraph was one of the first things I knew was definitely going to be part of the story so I'm glad you liked it.

Oh, wow, that was heartbreaking. An alien invasion worse than the 456 - shudder. Your Mica was so good -- I love it when a writer can take a minor character like that and make them wholly real. Great job!

Gwen was amazing in this. I loved her strength and her devotion to Ianto's family.

And Jack! Giving Mica books, being her friend, crying over Ianto and then the last line! Really awesome.

I'm glad you liked it. I did enjoy writing Mica and a lot of that was the process of working back to how Jack and Gwen would have interacted with her and then working out what kind of character would have developed from those interactions.

Via torchwood_house - I almost didn't read this when I saw the pov, but then I did and just wow! It's absolutely beautiful, and although I mostly lurk around TW, I had to pop out and tell you so. It feels perfectly post-CoE to me, gorgeously bittersweet, with a dash of hope, because that's what Jack is - he's us, scared but wanting, and then he's the hero because he does get there in the end... Well, in my world. *g* Anyway - thank you!

Thank you. I'm please you decided to read despite the POV and enjoyed it. I'm glad the bittersweetness of the ending came through and it wasn't completely bleak.
And yes, in the end Jack can't help being a hero.

This was devastating -- a note-perfect view of the future. I love how you developed Mica, and the other Torchwood characters as seen through her eyes. Thank you!
