The defining emotion for this season, looking back, I think will have been hope. For me and many others. For me, it's the infectious hope that invades us all when we see the face of the new "leader of the free world." That's where it starts. But it's also being on my own. A good way to get started is to get something tiny and handheld, that you can (and will) take with you anywhere. I've always thought that an important part of getting into video for the first time is making sure to keep it fun until you learn what you're doing. Buy a Flip Mino, about $150, put it in your pocket, and edit using Windows Movie Maker or iMovie at first.

Once you're comfortable with the process then look for a prosumer-grade camera and a real non-linear editor, but until you have the basics down and you know you'll enjoy it, neither will be worth the money or the stress.

I used windows movie maker for the vid I posted and I really found the program easy to use, but it would crash a lot. :( Probly something wrong w/ the computer

I've always liked that Oscar Wilde quote.

Depends on what you're really wanting to do with the camera.. but the software I can acquire for you quite easily and at no cost.
