Road trippin Part 1

So this whole adventure, somehow, starts off with me driving 6+hrs [the furthest I've ever driven btw] alone to pick Jake up post climbing/camping trip in Kentucky. It all went fairly well, a few semis tried to test the
http://www.kettering.edu/~drussell/Demos/superposition/superposition.html, but mostly alright... until I tried to make a left into the Steak'n'Shake, where Jake and Kane were waiting whennnnnnnnn I almost died. Truth. Yeah so Jake drove from there to Florida. Surprisingly we made it that night. Not to the campsite in Eastpointe [which is in the panhandle] but to Florida. We bummed it in the car that night and kept on driving the next morning. We were right along the coast for a lot of it, which was really pretty. And we went over some kick ass bridges [yes, I think bridges are kick ass] to get to St. George Island. Where the starte park is, where our [primitive] campsite was. We stop to check-in and the ranger man is doing everything short of openly discouraging us from going out to the primitive campsite. The plus, it's gonna be clear till Friday [it's Tuesday P.S.] It IS a 2.5 mile hike from where you park, but it is < 100 yards from the beach. Compromise right? So less than 5 minutes in, I am already being attacked by these biting flies. Not mosquitos, big biting flies. Did I mention its like noon and at least 90. I was a miserable hiker. Mostly because of the flies. But we got there. And it was beautiful. We set up the tent, went swimming, made some dinner [yeaaaahhh Ramen!] did some more swimming. It was all good...until we discerned that the rumble we heard over the water was not a plane, but infact thunder. Awesome. So we take cover in the tent, and this storm is getting pretty wild. I was a little nervous, given the lack of shelter and complete isolation and all. But you know eventually it starts to lighten up, and we start to realize that the tent is being invaded by hundreds of these itty bitty insects [they fit through the netting!] which would later find out are known ashttp://ttowery.tripod.com/noseeums.htm, but that comes later. Not only are these suckers invading our tent, but, THEY'RE BITING US. Hundreds of them, we do not stand a chance. The rain has stopped so we leave the tent, hoping to find some refuge, but no its worse. I am going insane. Absolutely insane. I was like, Hey, we need to leave now. There was no way I was sleeping in that, though I feel like Jake may have been ready to put up with it. So we're packing, and did I mention the sun is setting? Its well past twilight [a word I cannot write without bringing to mind I certain sad attempt at vampire fiction] when we actually begin our hike back to the car. Though much faster, it was much creepier. If you didn't know by now, I am easily spooked. So we sing to ease my nerves, not that there's anything out there to actually get me, and then, with less than .5 mile to go, Jake brings up how I brought uphttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hills_Have_Eyes_(2006_film)
Needless to say, I quickened my pace....
