Mac people, I have a question!

I have a WesternDigital external hard drive that I use Time Machine on to back up. Back in 2011, when I used to have a different MacBook, I backed up my system. Since I no longer have that system, and my current back ups are more than adequate, I'd like to delete that old stuff ( Read more... )

Well, I've never used a Mac or Time Machine, but I'm sure that the company that made Time Machine has Help, Support, and/or Forums online. You could start there and see if your question is already answered?

I found something, but after more research, the thing suggested is shady at best.

Celeste pointed me to two places, but there are issues. meh.

I've tried those. Problem is, my old backup is named something different than the new one, so Time Machine won't recognize the back up on this computer. Does that make any sense?

Yep, sure does, but I don't know what to do about that. Me thinks you may have to get a new hard drive. I'd hang onto the old one, though and ask a Mac techie. I would think there has to be a way.

I HAVE FIGURED IT OUT!

Don't ask how.. I was just clicking random things to see if it would work. But yay tons of free space!
