A nagging reminder for Americans: REGISTER!!

Sep 13, 2004 20:11

Hey Americans! I come to nag you! A couple of months ago I posted urging all Americans who read this LJ to register to vote -- well, I'm posting again to nag you once more. OMG! The Return of the Nag!

Why? Two reasons. First, whatever your political convictions, this is an important election! Second, you may or may not be facing a deadline ( Read more... )

Ah, well. I wish my entire flist could register to vote here! I think it would make the outcome of the election much more to my liking. Actually the city I live in is famous for allowing the dead to vote, so perhaps you could sneak across the border and claim to be one of the dearly departed. Hmmm, it's a thought.

Okay, so it's not my country, but your politics ultimately affect our politics, and I wanted to say well done to you guys for doing this.

I registered to vote the other day (of course, you could be fined if you don't in this country), and the whole time I was filling out the form, I couldn't help imagining your great icons. Especially the Frodo "what? you didn't register to vote?" one. They're all classic.

I was wondering how long it would take before you dragged some HP in there.... :D ;)

Hee, I'm glad you like the icons. Please feel free to use them no matter what country you're from.

And oh yeah. HP. Heh. Had to happen someday. *stares at her own icon and goes into a little trance.*

Teasel - Registered, talking to everyone, helped move two from former party affiliation, and working on everyone I can while quarantined in one of the nation's bastions of conservatism.

Snagged two of your beautiful icons and uploading now. Thank you!

This election will be decided by those who haven't voted, and are moved to do so now - not by those who've made up their minds. They/we are immovable. It is truly the year of 'even the smallest person.'

Enjoy the icons in good health! And yeah, I do get the impression that the fence-sitters in a few key states could be very very important. It's the wrong year to sit the election out!

Nag away, and thank you for doing so. I've pilfered and pimped your icons repeatedly and give credit whether you like it or not. Because you're doing a good thing here...

How true, it is indeed the year of the even the smallest voter making a differnce.

Yay! I'm glad you're pimping the things; feel free to pimp them wherever and whenever you please! The Evil Tentacles of Pro-Voting Propaganda should reach as far as possible, IMHO. :)

You guys *are* doing some good, realize it or not! I saw the 'Hobbits for Voter Registration' stuff a while back, and it was one of the prompters for me to register. I fall into the 'college' range and am planning to do absentee ballot.

Hee! Love the icons. Maybe I'll steal one when I get a LJ.

Yay! You made my day. I'm delighted to hear that you've registered and are planning to vote. Don't be discouraged by the barrage of election ads to which we'll all be subject -- I know that when election day rolls around I'm generally so disheartened by negative campaigning that I want to hide in a hole, not vote. But that's a temptation we all have to resist.

Please feel free to take as many of the voter registration icons as you want when you get an LJ! And come on in, the LJ water's fine. :)
