The DMV...

When I moved here, I went to the DMV without an appointment, to change my MA license to CA. They took my passport as sovereign ID. STATE issued ID is not valid for new licenses anymore. I waited in line for about 10 minutes. Then given a written test, then an eye test, then sat for another 5 minutes or so until the clerk called me up. She found out I used to be licensed in this state 16 years ago. She gave me my SAME license number from back then, took my picture...and sent me on my way. All told, I was there about an hour. Most painless DMV experience of my life, but.. I must be lucky, because I never had any horror stories in MA either.

Yes. Welcome to hell. Try importing a car.

(I must've done something right, I just got my registration yesterday in the mail, 22 months after first applying.)

Good luck!

Same situation in reverse here. I'm in the middle of getting my Pa license transferred back to a MA one next week. The plates, the insurance, the pending inspection. All done, easy. Less then an hour.

The license? I've already been pre-denied. They want like 4 forms of ID, 2 of which they have said "well that might not work, but come down and let us look at it and we'll tell you"
