Entertaining evening recently in which a friend and I took a jaunt through the archives of Youtube, victims of it's disjointed pulling power and promptly found these gems.

Move over DC comics, the Italians have you covered, in red spandex. Is that a bazooka or are you just pleased to see me.

Oh my, that's hilarious! I've never seen that stuff! I never liked super-hero movies or series, but I guess I would like to see those (even if it was due to its old-fashioned wonderful look, and terrific special effects). :)

'3 Supermen A Tokyo' in particular is crying out for a Tarrantino remake.

A bit like 'Jackie Brown' (over-the-hill cult film stars of yesteryear make one final victory lap, in a touching mo'fuckular paen to the twilight of their exploitastic youth) meets 'Danger: Diabolik!'.

Dream cast:

  • Roberto Benigni (as Tony)

  • ... in a melange of the Promethean myth and 'French Connection 2', we find Tony where we last left the Fantastic Supermen (in Santo Domingo in the Domican Republic, believe it or not...) hooked on smack by Haitian gangsters and tied to a big bed.

("I scream, you scream, we all scream for heroin" he will wearily cry to his unseen captors, a bittersweet evocation of Benigni's break-out role in 'Down By Law'.

  • Tony Danza (off of 'Taxi'... as Brad)

  • and

  • Jo Bugner (in a blazing, Travolata-esque comeback. He should at some point box a Peruvian llama who's in with the Haitian crime syndicate).

  • ... both bust in and rescue him. They really fill out that red spandex now.

Super friends reunited, they high-tail it to northern ( ... )
