Nov 23, 2010 20:28

[Good day, Mayfield! A fine day, is it not? There's the calm gentle voice of a British gentleman coming down your phone lines right about now.]

Ah, it seems there has been some sort of mistake here. But, indeed, a most curious mistake. If anyone could please inform myself of our whereabouts I would be most grateful.

[Do do do, Luke's just checking the phonelines, seeing if there's anything important going on. You know, the usual routine.

Say, isn't that the Professor's voice man he hasn't heard that voice in a whil-]

This is Mayfield, mister. I heard you can get things back at the post office -- but you might lose something precious in return, so it's not really worth the risk, but you do get your things back over time. [Yyyyep.]

...Now why would the post office take my hat?

Ah, I'm sure it does not matter right now. Tell me, what is your name, young lady?

Well, this place is pretty weird, I have to say… [She laughs slightly, but it’s not a very serious laugh.] Oh! Right, I’m Misty.

That is a lovely name, I must say.

Ah, I would also like to enquire as to where Mayfield is located. I can't say I'm familiar with the name.

Um.

[Kneeling in the garden of sunflowers outside his house, Lucas may not be visible at first glance to anyone passing by. This isn't true for the reverse -- He can see Professor Layton going through his mail quite well.]

. . . Do you need anything, mister?

[Whoops, caught red handed!]

Ah, I am dreadfully sorry! I was searching for something I had lost. Perhaps you have seen it?

[Lucas frowns slightly as he brushes the dirt off his hands and clothes. He approaches, a bit slowly -- He feels like he knows this person.]

What was it? Maybe I can help you look.

It was a small golden coin. I did have several in my possession but they have gone missing on my arrival here.

[Of course, he's really looking for puzzles and clues. But until he's entirely assured of this boy's innocence he won't say anything.]

[Sitting on the porch, Edward spots a man peeking into his mailbox.]

...can I help you?

Oh, I am dreadfully sorry. I'm searching for something I've lost.

[And he reaches to tip his hat... Oh wait it's not there anymore. He just brushes the hand through his hair smooothly.]

Perhaps you have seen it?

That all depends on what it is, now, doesn't it?

It's a small golden coin.

[The Professor draws a little circle with his hands to emphasise how big it is.]

I know how you feel, sir. I'm still trying to find my own hat.

It's gonna' sound really far-fetched but, we're all kinda' stuck in this town, see? I mean, the people who are conscious of it. It's hard to explain, but we're in some sort of experiment? At least, that's what I think.

If you ever need anything, I'm one of the younger boys in town. The name's Ness. Nice ta' meetcha'. Reality'll take a little while to sink in so, feel free to call any time you need.

Ah, thank you for the information. My name is Professor Layton and it's a pleasure to meet you.

Out of curiousity, how long have you been in this town?

About.. A little over four months now, sir. It seems like a lot longer but, it really hasn't been that long. I'm gonna' guess you just got here, right? If it is easier for you, perhaps we can meet up some where? I'm not really into this whole "phone" thing. Reminds me too much of home. Face to face works much better for me.

If you would prefer to communicate face to face, I won't object. I'm living at 952 Beulah Street according to my front door.
