Canine vs Feline

Cats SUCK!!!! Dogs are awesome.

But don't get a terrior, at leat a Jack Russell one. My dog is part Jack Russel terrior, and she is smart as hell, which causes some problems cause she wants to rule the house.

You could get a Maltese, I have one. I keep her hair about an inch or two long and Maltese dogs don't shed. They live for like 16 years and they never lose their puppy like energy like most dogs. Plus they're small, they like to cuddle as much as play and easy to take care of. And they're flippin adorable.

Hell, if you kicked her she'd still come running back all happy and peppy.

Oh yeah, my cat lived for I think like 8 years as an Indoor/Outdoor cat. She caught most of the food she ate. :-P

i'd say go with the cat.
i like dogs better too but cats are much easier to take care of, and much more independant, as you said.
