I was pretty excited about the possibility of using zipcar. Fairly low annual fee, affordable driving rates, gas and insurance included. pretty awesome - low commitment, and lots of ease of use. There's zipcars that "live" near the mall, and near my house, and a ton that live downtown. awesome ( Read more... )

But now that you have your license your situation can only improve. It's not like it'll be this way forever, or that you need to get your permit/license now and wait even longer.

i'm being very judgmental of him, that's all.

he's having to stay with friends of his and get stuff over to my house but doesn't have a way to get anything anywhere and he's working on tying up loose ends before the marines ship him out, but I'm just frustrated that he can't do the responsible thing and get a job and not go into the marine corp. i guess. expectations are premeditated resentments...

While I agree that joining the military was not the best decision (all right, down right stupid), who knows? Maybe this will be good for him. I'm sure the recruiters have set it up to look like it's going to be awesome-they always do, which is why they're legally banned from college campuses now-but he'll find out the truth and won't be able/allowed to quit, even when it's really hard and he doesn't want to do it anymore.

Speaking from my own spoiled-child experience, being forced to complete something that's difficult may be the best thing for him in the end.

In the mean time, we'll all get a lot of practice in the art of praying. :P
