actually, they make the soap referenced in 2. but its actually made that way so you can be a stealthy hunter (and buy a 40 dollar 12oz bottle of soap). so its purpose is to clean and make you INVISIBLE to the deer. (yeah wtf.)
i actually like smelling random things when i am doing my daily thing. i like smells. i have a very sensitive nose too, so i like it when things smell nice. but.. not so much pear. pear is not so hot.
and on the foaming soap, i always wet my hands FIRST, then get soap, regardless of foamy-ness or not. im kinda a slacker so i appreciate that much less effort.
I like smells, too. But not when I'm eating something that smells nothing like my soap. And yes, now I wet my hands before the foaming soap, but initially, I was so excited by the concept that I didn't. And theoretically, you shouldn't have to.
My friend actually has a facebook group devoted to the inferior state of the foamy stuff. I quoted your post there, but it's been a while since anyone was active there. I'll have to recruit people to go read it.
