lol, my roommate and one of my friends is the same way. they either have no clue or have some obscure and negative view on a band i either know is good, or i really love (like coldplay), and then bring out some comment about how they like avril lavigne, or how awesome good charlotte's "girls and boys" single is....

very sad. very sad
