Well, good luck with that, then! Nothing like a nice, clear sound system to make one happy (though for me it takes more of a nice, big lighting board).
Heh, I've been told that, years ago, my school's sound technician was the nearly-deaf old, retired faculty member who just refused to leave. He wouldn't hear the feedback when it came booming through the speakers during a performance. XD
Lights are indeed fun. Especially the colored ones. Or the ones with gobos. I've had many an argument with a fellow techie concerning who gets to operate the lighting board for what performance...
It's a pity you don't get to do much lighting. But then, I'd assume that it doesn't matter quite so much for concerts, which you seem to do more of than plays and dance companies. *shrugs*
I can never understand how teching works...I've seen the sound boards and light boards in my school and at my church, and I am completely baffled. All the time.
