I keep mine on my hard drive, backed up to a thumb drive and via Carbonite online data recovery.

For use away from my PC I have it on my Kindle which works fantatically on a little stand for ritual work. :)

I was going to say, personal wiki technology has become popular recently, and so have USB drives, and so has internet storage. I don't actually have anything compiled and collected in one place, but I've been looking into various wiki resources and trying to decide what I like best for long-term use.

I have a TiddlyWiki I carry with me that has all sorts of work and personal notes, but it may not be the final solution.

I keep a research file that's about 10gigs and includes pdfs and scans of what classical grimoires are available. like other posters I use a flash drive, and also Google Mail for storage, not to mention printed hardcopies when necessary. I'm not sure what problems you're talking about: technology generally just gives us more storage options. the only time i've ran into trouble is when I fail to backup having "put all my eggs into one basket." nowadays with all the cheap storage we have, and the internet, it's a piece of cake to hang onto your magical record.
