It's interesting that if you plot out the fibonacci sequence you get a spiral....ANd this spiral has the exact shape of a conch shell spiral...and also is the exact way leaves are distributed around a stalk....

If you find this kind of stuff interesting, let me recommend Godel, Escher, Bach: The Eternal Golden Braid...I'm not sure the name of the author offhand, and am currently to lazy to google it.

It's an awesome book. I loaned out my only copy a few years back, and it decided not to return, despite the (I hesitate to use "charm") spell I put on all my books to return to me. I guess it found a better home. Now I have to go get another copy...

I've been wanting a hardcover copy, though finding one has been hard enough that I'm considering trying to re-bind a trade paperback edition.
