as offensive as the editorial cartoons are, the reaction of *radical Islam* only serves to further enhance the stereotypes the cartoons portrayed. Burning embassies? Beating people up? Burning flags?!
Can we say irony?
I read some commentary from the Washington bureau chief of the German newsweekly Die Zeit (they ran the images; not originally, but ran one of them in the context of the debate when it became newsworthy). Here's a link to the chat.
Very interesting. I can say none of this better than he did himself.
It's the radical Islamists that are causing all this trouble. The vast majority of non-radicals are taking it more in-stride.
I also read where many Islamists don't even see this as the great sin that the radicals say it is.
Know how this all got started? A children's book writer wants to write a book about the life of Muhammad, but could find nobody who would illustrate it, because they feared for their lives....
Insane.
