How would you define or describe 'Zen'?

Sorry that I'm the girl of never ending questions! =P

oh thats ok... questions are good...

but see you wouldn't define zen.... the purpose of Buddhism is to seek enlightenment and to free yourself from the realm of suffering and from attachments... and that includes attachments to concepts and notions.... the ultimate goal of a buddhist is liberation... to attain nirvana which literally translates as 'extinction'... usually thought to mean the extinction of notions and concepts.... no one knows what nirvana is... if its a place or a mindstate etc.... or if you just cease to exist after your death....

so see to define zen would be to contradict what zen is all about... what buddhism is all about... there really is no way to define zen.... but if you wanted i would say that zen is a form of buddhism....

anything other than that would require specific questions ;-)
