Setting
In the far flung future a conglomerate of interplanetary governments and corporations acts as a form of leadership that sets the laws regulations for the universe. While each planet is governed by it's own systems and leaders "The Feds" impose their will on more compliant or weaker planets.
One planet that did not comply immediately was the planet "Farra" home to the "Ferrins" Ferrins are a feline like race and because of their stern opposition to being ruled by other races rules and guidelines for generations they were at war with the rest of the galaxy. But as numbers dwindled and the Ferrin's found themselves losing their king finally conceded and they joined the allied planets.
However due to the wars it would be a long time coming before Ferrin's were treated as equals among the more established races and cultures among the allied planets.
As time moves on the allied planets influence continues to expand as more planets and galaxies are discovered. Some planets like Farra haven't taken so kindly to outsiders rule, and some have managed to join forces with their surrounding planets to put up offense.
Meanwhile other more opportunistic individuals have used this Renaissance of intergalactic travel for more selfish purposes. Slave trade, pirates, rebels, warmongers and all manner of criminal mastermind flourishes in these times of turmoil.

The Crimson Silk
"The road of a lawbreaker is stained in blood, and while some say only you can choose the Crimson path, some say it chooses you."
The Crimson Silk was once a beautiful hotel stationed on a luxurious ship that acted as a ritzy vacation spot for those with more money then sense. State of the art relaxation technology and entertainment facilities were some of the biggest draws.
And it was for exactly that reason a band of brutal violent and cruel pirates attacked the ship and took it over. Those on board were either killed for fun or enslaved by the pirates.
For Ten years those pirates roamed the stars until mysteriously they vanished and the Silk passed into new hands.
The hotel has been retrofitted into a sort of half assed pirate ship, with modest Offensive and Defensive capabilities. With enough money and hard work it could be a veritable warship.
Among the various amenities that the pirates haven't destroyed it has a gym, basic holographic entertainment systems, Hot springs bath (Because why not?), pool, a few different bars and restaurants with different themes, a parking garage sized hanger with a collection of stolen or busted up ship (Often cannibalized for parts to keep the Silk running)
Due to it's significant size it would normally take a large crew to keep the ship fully operational, however there are a series of service droids that have been built to help with minor duties including cleaning.

Puck/Captian
Once the daughter of a cook and a housekeeper on the Crimson Silk when it was a hotel, Puck was enslaved by the pirates that took over the home and killed her parents. After ten years of struggling and doing everything she could to survive Puck finally took control of the ship and flushed the pirates out of the air locks.
Unfortunately this plan had it's flaws...such as nearly depleting the ships life support systems, and leaving her alone to try and pilot the massive ship. Only by luck did she survive long enough to reach a planet to dock at and work out another plan.
Unwilling to leave the past behind Puck has taken the Silk as her own, but fate had other plans. The company that funded the Silk was owned an operated by a manipulative and wicked CEO known as Michal "Spider" Malone. The Malone family were infamous for their ties to organized crime and the government going as far back as the first Association of organized planets.
Spider was willing to cut her a deal though, if she could pay back the revenue lost on the hotel during the years it was under pirate control he would give her the deed. In exchange when he had some jobs prepared for her she would have to jump to. While Puck despises Spider with every fiber in her being she refuses to give up the ship.
Her first step was to then organize a crew, and Puck being ambitious decided to aim high. She had heard rumors of a skilled pilot and thief named Othelo Jones but when she found him face down in a gutter stinking of alcohol and starving she had her doubts. Still she fed him, clothed him and employed him as the ships pilot, and extra muscle for her very first job from Spider. They were tasked with breaking into a sacred shrine of a rival companies family
While posing as archeologists Puck and Othelo tried to get into the underground shrine, only to be forcibly ejected by the protector of the shrine Lzzkren. He was a member of the rival company family tasked with ensuring no one ever got into the shrine. While Othelo and Lzzkren fought Puck snuck deeper into the shrine and found their prize, a scroll rumored to contain dark magics. It was in fact true and she became possessed by the dark powers of the scroll.
Lzzkren and Othelo were forced to join forces to try and stop the creature she turned into, but in the end it was Puck's own willpower that pushed through and overcame the spirits from the scroll. However now that she had absorbed the magic the scroll was useless and they wouldn't get paid.
Worse still, Lzzkren's family shrine had been desecrated. With no purpose and having been shamed from his family Lzzkren joined the crew...after swearing a blood oath to kill Othelo Jones someday.

Lzzkren / Weapons specialist
Proud Dark Elf, son of a long line of weapons makers Lzzkren's family has been one of the biggest suppliers of legal and illegal weapons since the universe first began coming together in the earliest days of the Allied planets.
Lzzkren had been an up and coming young businessmen...till a string of bad relationships shamed his family and he was sent to guard the family shrine as punishment.
Skilled in multiple forms of combat his preferred method is a combination of gunplay and swordplay. He is extremely refined, classy, stylish and stuffy. His hobbies include expensive suits, tea, weapons and art.
Things that force his temper is dishonorable acts, people messing with his hair, and people acting foolish in serious situations.
Oh, and commitment, while a notorious playboy he finds himself unable to settle down. Inbetween missions he spends his time training the crew.

Othelo Jones / Pilot
Othelo started his life out as an Orphan when his famous explorer parents simply vanished into the darkness of space. While the rest of the universe gave up on them he believed that they were still alive somewhere.
He was adopted by a kind scientist Roland, unfortunately Roland's reason for adopting Othelo was to perform genetic experiments on him. Painful Experiments that Othelo has blocked from memory.
Then one day, Roland vanished and Othelo was on his own. He decide to follow the rumors that his parents had left their ship somewhere out among the stars loaded with treasure, but without a set plan he became a drifter traveling from planet to planet performing odd jobs, both legal and otherwise. It was during this time of is life he met Puck and Lzzkren.
During his adventures with the duo they landed on a backwater planet where some brilliant scientists had been developing some state of the art terraforming technology. They had been intending to steal the technology when all hell broke loose.
Othelo met a pretty Ferrin girl, a medical student, they got close but she was murdered while trying to protect him. That was dawn.
When Puck and Lzzkren found Othelo's body that evening the city was empty. Every last resident in the city had been killed, and from the state Othelo was in he should have been dead as well.
But he survived, never speaking of what happened that day, but it was from then on that the universe knew and feared the name "Othelo Jones" and he became one of the most expensive criminal bounties in recorded history.
Despite his grim history Othelo has a lighthearted relaxed personality that is a sharp contrast to the public image that he has. He is a skilled pilot and thief but loves nothing more then exploring, having fun and entertaining others.

Jessie and Lea Jones / The Muscle and the Mechanic
Siblings raised on an industrial planet, their lives were changed forever when an accident nearly killed Lea. Jessie sold himself to genetic research to pay for the surgeries necessary to save her life. Her body now more technology then human their family was driven deeper and deeper into debt. With their mother sick and father long since abandoned them The siblings dropped out of school to run their shop.
Knowing that the silk needed more dedicated mechanics Puck approached them and hired them to the silk after Lea proved her worth by fixing up Othelo's customized cruiser.
As different as night and day, Jessie is big and loud, powerful and determined while Lea is subdued and shy. The only thing they share is a strong loyalty and burning willpower to overcome for one another.
Lea has thick glasses as her eyes are one of the only human things left from the accident and she doesn't want to get rid of them.
Jessie has fallen in love with Puck from first sight and sees her violent nature and abusive reactions to his love as her playing hard to get.
Lea has a knack for all things mechanical, particularly traditional machines, but has learned some programming from her time spent with Kats
Jessie has very little mechanical ability but is incredibly strong and durable due to the genetic testing.

Kitty and Kats Lucas
Kats is of the species known as "Ferrins". A fairly under represented race of cat people from the planet "Farra" in a far flung future universe. They are newly acquainted having only joined the rest of the galactic alliance of planets in the last ten years and suspicions and ill will are still strongly felt at their kind.
The species is generally split into two categories, "Wildcat Ferrins" who are decedents of creatures much like the jungle cats of Earth, (Tigers, panthers, cougars, etc) and CityCat Ferrins who are decidedly less muscular but usually more intelligent. Though there is not much of a division these days the old ways tend to stand firmly in the genetics of the species. More often then not Wildcat Ferrins take jobs that are based around strength, Speed and durability while City Cat Ferrins take careers that allow them to express intelligence, creativity and wisdom. The one thing all Ferrins share however is a powerful will.
Kats was born Katarl Blazefur to his father, a proud Wildcat Ferrin Royal guard, and his mother, a Citycat Ferrin who worked in the research and development department of the cities military base. He had an elder sister of four years at the time of his birth named Katherina Blazefur. Where he took after his mother in both CityCat looks at technological interests, she too after their father in looks and desire to protect and serve.
Due to their families good standing with the cities government and royal family, the siblings were chosen out of thousands to be representatives of their species on an experimental interplanetary school located on a mobile space station. They would be gone from home for a great many years at a time learning from some of the best and brightest each planet had to offer. Kats was ecstatic to go but soon found he and his sister were almost second class citizens amongst an entire ship of more established and well known species.
He was constantly picked on and soon became a bully magnet, rescued frequently by his more intimidating and less socially awkward sister. While at school Kats developed a love of all things technological and soon became one of the top students in most computer or tech based classes. A notable moment in his time at the school was when he was attempting to hack the schools mainframe to change his sisters failing math grade so she could compete in a sports even...and accidentally killed most of the power to the school. For a week the students were floundering about in zero gravity and darkness while they repaired the damage he'd done. He was never found out however.
At the age of 15 a standard bulling led to trouble when a few stronger students forced Kats into an escape pod and launched him away from the station. His sister commandeered (Read: "Borrowed without permission") A maintenance suit and launched herself off the station to rescue him. Once inside the pod before she could help him return to the station a dark shadow fell over them. They watched in horror as a ship, larger then any planet they'd seen appeared out of the stars. In one blast it destroyed their home planet sending chunks flying in all directions, including through the space station. The shock wave knocked them out.
When the siblings came to they were alone and adrift in space, one of the last few Ferrins in existence.
The savior for the siblings came in a shiny red sports car shaped ship. He rescued them and took them back to his own home ship while they were passed out from hunger and exhaustion. Kats awoke first and began to explore.
The ship it self seemed to be a converted cruise ship of sorts. Large portions of it remained unchanged and were more like an expensive hotel, while others had been renovated and remodeled for other purposes. Kats became worried when he encountered an unlocked storage room full of weapons. Who was this person who had saved them?

He was found by a seemingly emotionless girl in overalls who turned out to be the ships mechanic. After assaulting him with a wrench thinking he was trying to steal the weapons she led him to the bridge where he met the rest of the crew. They were a ragtag group of Space Pirates and unashamed told him thus.
The captain was not happy that her pilot had rescued them on what was supposed to be a recon mission...and vowed to dump them on the first livable planet they encountered. This promise was restated with gusto when Kitty (Who thought Kats was in trouble) got into a short brawl with the captain who easily disabled his sister using magic.
Kats was wary about leaving the crew behind...they may have been pirates but for the short time they were on board the siblings were treated with kindness and respect (mostly) instead of being looked at like second class creatures. Kitty was decidedly happy to leave behind the criminals and was attempting to step into her role as big sister and take care of Kats as they desperately tried to form a plan.
No one seemed to care about the troubles of these two orphans. The police they contacted simply rolled their eyes when they described the warship that had destroyed their home. This was not a civilized planet...but rather a den of thieves and murderers.
In a desperate attempt to earn a little spending cash, Kitty took off after a criminal she recognized from a wanted poster at the police station. Her intentions were to capture him and turn him in for the bounty. Worried Kats began after her but ran into the pilot from the space pirates crew first. After informing him of the situation the pilot agreed to help.
Between the two of them they rescued Kats sister from a small ring of drug dealers and escaped the city back to the ship. The captain was furious until Othelo (the Pilot) explained what he had witnessed during the fight and flight. Kats was an exceptional techie...and Kitty had both physical, and medical skills that the crew could use.
Without any other options or family that they knew of the siblings agreed even after learning the true Identity of the ships pilot. He was none other then Othelo Jones, infamous pirate wanted for the murder of an entire city of people. Neither sibling ever got up the nerve to ask the surprisingly easy going and relaxed criminal if the stories were true however.
As time wore on they settled easily into their roles on the ship...and Kitty even began to experi
