OMG why are they not showing the Oscars on terrestrial TV in the UK? Now I'll never get to see the wonderous skirt we made for Alex on the TV because they NEVER show the costume design award on the highlights things. cleolinda , please tell me if she wins, (which she blatently won't, because Colleen Atwood is so going to win) or if you see the skirt and it ( Read more... )

What's the actresses name? Because I totally will watch and be all "OMG I know who made that!" if I see her!

She's actually a costume designer - Alexandra Byrne. She designed the costumes for Phantom, but has been nominated for Finding Neverland. She should be wearing a black lace tee-shirt, and a black velvet and satin Vivienne Westwood-style skirt.

I'll keep a look out--it's possible pictures of her might show up anyway. And even if Atwood wins, I don't think they're letting "lesser" categories give acceptance speeches this year (I KNOW!). Fnarrr.

Seriously, it's going to be the biggest trainwreck ever--the "important" people are getting marched on stage to sit there while the envelope is opened. I was really sad about all the crap they're perpetrating this year, until I realized that it would be comedy gold from a different point of view. So my recap/commentary starts in about... two hours. : D

It all sounds really ridiculous. But also full of comic potential. I'm probably gonna have to go to bed soon because I have to work early tomorrow, but I'll be sure to check it out tomorrow!

Good lord. The Oscars = fail. They have an entire other night where they give out technical awards because they can't be bothered to do so on The Big Night anymore. I don't think actors or directors should be able to give acceptance speeches anymore, because they suck. However, the lighting guys, should get like, five minutes. Just to pay everyone back for having to sit through Halle Berry crying.

I have no idea where these rumors are coming from, but everyone gets to make a speech. Well, everyone *is* making a speech -- it's on right now.

Colleen Atwood didn't win, though! She really deserved that award. Stupid Aviator, already winning everything, including in categories it doesn't deserve to win. (Atwood's costume work is amazing, especially in Lemony Snicket).
