I have to go to hospital to have two of my wisdom teeth pulled out tomorrow! I know it's pathetic to be worried about an operation that only lasts about 20 minutes and is completely routine when so many other people have it so much worse, but I've never had to have an operation or a general anasthetic before, and I know I shouldn't have but I read ( Read more... )

*hugs* I'll think good thoughts for you! (I got my impacted wisdom teeth removed back in H.S., so I know the pain; hopefully yours will go well)

Thanks! I'm just having two out on the right side of my mouth, so hopefully it won't be too bad. I'm prepared to look like a lopsided hamster for a few days. :)

Whatever happens, the drugs you get for the next week make it all worthwhile.

And they're very liberal with the anesthetic. And if, if, if you'd wake up...the first thing they do after they give you the general anesthetic is give you a local, so if for some reason you'd wake up, you still wouldn't feel anything. Not that you're going to wake up. I promise. A needle in the arm and all of a sudden you're in the car on your way home, and for some reason your face is poofy.

Trust me. Apparently one of my teeth gave them trouble and they had to bust it apart, and the right side of my face was 5x more swollen than the left. I wouldn't have known had I not seen my teeth afterward. (Before they start, if you ask them for your teeth, they'll give them to you afterwards XD)

Mashed potatoes. The way, the truth, and the life for post-wisdom-tooth-operations. And the pain meds they'll give you will likely keep you from being awake enough to watch anything.

:) Good luck!

*hugs* You'll be fine! I had all four of mine done, and like Jess said, the anasthetic is ridiculous. You won't even know what happened until like the next day. And then you can have pudding. Lots of pudding. And sleeping.

Aside from the surgery part, it's good times. ;D

*thinks good thoughts*

Dear lord, they give you general? I just got local. This great stuff where I was awake as they took my 3 wisdom teeth. Gotta love the military.

I'll definately have a pudding cup in your honor.

General? I got local when I had mine extracted. Hopefully, you won't swell up too bad although I rather like the swelling. It'll definitely make you look cute. :-P
