As in reach back 10 years for a perid of 18 months of "creditable coverage" (i.e. employer-sponsored coverage)?

Ahh, so that could be one disadvantage of going with a non-HIPAA plan. If one goes with the non-HIPAA plan and then comes down with a disease, then the absence of the "pre-exisiting condition rule" makes it difficult to obtain affordable coverage on the private market.
