I have to agree with this op-ed. Essentially he states the obvious: blogs are a form of self-indulgence and a place for exhibitionists to flex. Yes, fine. They also serve as a forum for people to debate ideas. Early news groups were much less about exhibitionism, and there is also variation by country. I agree with the point about political struggle. I also think the on-line community will change there as more people get internet access at home. In Russia about 15-20% of households have internet compared to about 70% in the U.S. I expect these are also the higher income and more politically aware households. So how are things with you and your studies?

I am glad to hear that things are well. I too am trying to finish up in the spring.

It is interesting how one’s writing style changes when one has an audience. I find the same thing. Sometimes, I’ll compose imaginary e-mails to my boss or co-worker just to work out my thoughts.
