Protesting is as American as it gets

There was a time, back in the 1700s, when a number of people demonstrated a shocking lack of deference and respect to the flag and military of the nation, which at that time meant the Union Jack and the British Army. Tangentially to your point, I see nothing disrespectful about kneeling during the national anthem. If the topic was prayer, this position would be considered reverential. To me, it is respectful and at the same time makes the point of free speech and equality.

ps ... I doubt any of these asses who are upset get off their couch at home prior to a football game starting, put their hand over their heart and sing the national anthem. False arguments ... and in the case of tRump, used as a distraction from the Russia investigations!

Or, as I saw it put very succinctly: "Bleating about 'protesting the flag' is like saying Rosa Parks was protesting public transport."
