Thanks so much for commenting - making this fanmix was so worth the effort - I was highly motivated by the romantic pairing of these men and wanted to do them justice.
I'm of the same mind about the magical nature of the dance scene. Having it occur in the distant past was an amazing idea. Think how brave it was for the real Captain Jack to do what he did. He listened to Captain Jack II, and made this the best night of his life! I really enjoyed seeing the reactions around the room while the boys were dancing. The men seem to be slightly shocked, while the women seem to be tilting their heads, smiling, bemused, and sensing the romantic nature of what is happening. Instead of the expected negative reaction, one of understanding that this was real love, and that a very difficult parting was happening - something they all understood because of wartime. Many of the crowd are looking down in sadness when they part! Really, really amazing!
Wow, another beautiful icon - who are these handsome men? Hope they really are "connected".
This is a lovely compliment - it is greatly appreciated! I am thrilled that even after nearly three months I am still getting downloads and even a comment - thanks for taking the time to do so. Hope you have a great holiday season!
Oh wow....I wish I'd have known this fanmix was out there, too...I absolutely love the music of the 1940's (and swing/ballads from later and earlier, as well). I would've loved to download this! Hopefully I'll be able to find all of the songs individually...did you have trouble getting them or did you use your own personal collection?
Shane, I really appreciate your looking at this fanmix and commenting again - you are a real pal! This fanmix is still available, I've had a bunch of new downloads this week, so please give it a try. I just tested the link and it is working. I did my best to find all the period music used in Torchwood episode "Captain Jack Harkness", with the exception of "Take The A Train" - I couldn't find a good sounding recording to include in this one. I used some more recent songs by Sarah Brightman, Michael Buble, etc., etc., that fit the mood of the story. Thanks so much for commenting, and I see that you have written some poetry? I will definitely take a look at that. =B^(D>
