I imagine seeing a few deer passing by wouldn't be big news for someone living in an area like your sister's mountain home. In Britain, we're a bit starved of impressively large mammals - although there's always talk of wildlife groups trying to reintroduce things like wolves, wild boar and elk. Now my youngest sister lives up in the mountains--and she's been known to get bear and mountain lion. That's a wee bit too rural for me.

It always puts a smile on my face when I see deer. We get them along the freeway here, and it always pleases me.
