Tutorial Marathon @ teelke_arts ( part 1 )
Before I start I would like to say, please don´t just copy tutorials.
You should use them to learn from them and not just search for pictures and then apply a coloring from another person.
Try to play around with the settings, add some new layers or delete some that will help you so
much more than copying the work of another maker!

I took a picture from Silver & Annie because those pictures are beyond adorable.
You can find them all @ the Flickr gallery of The Vicious Circle





Step 1: Make a new Fill Layer with the color #43072c and set it to Overlay; Opacity ( 25 % )
Step 2: Make another Fill Layer with the color #1a0503 and set it to Exclusion; Opacity ( 100%)
Step 3: The curves layer everyone loves :P
Dot one : Input -> 61; Output -> 82
Dot two: Input -> 150 ; Output ->185

Step 4: Color Balance

Shadows; +18, -10, -8
Midtones; -31, +21,+16
Highlights; -8, -9, +9

Step 5: Selective Coloring

Reds: +23, +8, +8, +9
Yellows: +7,-11,+7,+10
Whites: +13, -17,-7,+19
Neutrals: +2,+3,+2,+3

Step 6: Brightness/ Contrast

Brightness: -7
Contrast: -18

Step 7:
I took a big brush, set it to Hardness 0.
Then I chose the color #282726 and brushed over some parts of the picture and then I set it to Lighten.



And you are done with your banner :)

Step 1: Duplicate your base and set it to Screen; Opacity (15%)

Step 2: New Fill Layer with the Color #ffb8c7 and set it to Color Burn; Opacity ( 65% )

Step 3: Open a new Curves Layer

Dot one: Input -> 64 ; Output -> 64
Dot two: Input -> 173 Output ->193

Step 4: Color Balance

Shadows: -35 , -3 ; -25
Midtones: +18, +6, +5
Highlights: -15, -1, -8

Step 5: Selective Coloring

Reds: -10, 0, 0, +15
Yellows: 0, 0, 0, +15
Neutrals: -12,-3,-3,+1

Step 6: Brightness / Contrast

Brightness : -5
Contrast: -16

Step 7: New Fill Layer with the color #e3e3e3
set to Color Burn; Opacity ( 80%)

Step 8: Make a new blank layer and drag it on top.
Now you press Strg + Alt + Shift + E and you have a copy of your icon so far.

Step 9: I wanted to have a clean one colored background so I took the Smudge Tool and Smudged the parts away that I didn´t need. On this icon I couldn´t remove the whole background my smudging so I made another blank layer, took the color of the background ( with the Eyedropper Tool ) and painted on the parts that I didn´t want.


thats how the icon looked after smudging



and here is your icon after painting on the not wanted parts and sharpening it a bit
