LJ Idol topic: The better half

The better half of me is my kids. I have two simply amazing children. Everyday they teach me how to laugh and play. How to be a better mom, how to be a better person. The simple pleasures they get out of things like mac n cheese and toys remind me that life with all its worries and challenges is to be enjoyed ( Read more... )

This is so sweet! I hear people say all the time about how they are scared of being parents because of how bad their parents were...I honestly feel that people can learn from their parents downfalls and mistakes instead of repeating them. I think they can make some of the best parents :)

Couldn't agree more. You might get to make up your own brand new mistakes, but you can learn a heck of a lot from what *not* to do as well.

And I'm jealous Teenagewitch - your daughter will let you pick out your outfits?! My one year old will just about tolerate that but forget about it with the other two! Mind, my girls are all so different in their taste and look that I get a huge kick out of seeing what outfits they put together.

Kids are totally and utterly fab.

Well I think it helps that shes as girly as it comes and I always pick out pink stuff.

I got lucky though - my first is a quirky artistic type so she puts together unusual outfits, usually involving trousers regardless of whether there's a dress on top or not. My second is more girly so only wears dresses, preferably of the long party variety. And my third seems to be more tom boyish. So I get all ends of the spectrum to delight in!

They pick their clothes though - since they won't wear something they don't like, it's pointless my buying something I'm not going to get wear out of. Again, I'm finding it fascinating seeing things I thought no.1 would like being completely ignored only to have no.3 loving them. The fine established tradition of stealing clothes from your sister starts early in my household but it's well and truly there!
