My son could roll over when he was born so he always slept on his side - and then he would turn over onto his belly! Not the safest thing but you can't prevent it! <3
my son is 14months but when he was that age he started sleepin on his tummy as well, when i asked his dr. about it she said that it he would b fine since he was old enough to role over on his own. so now he still sleeps on his tummy or which ever way he ends up after moving around all nite lol.

My son would only sleep on his tummy from birth. I took this rule of thumb: since he could lift his head early, I let him sleep on his tummy but made sure there was nothing near that could smother him.
I suggest letting your baby sleep on his/her tummy.
Doctor's keep going back and forth between letting babies sleep on tummy or on back. Since every other year it has seemed to change it is really what makes you comfortable and happpy (and of course your baby).
If you are worried about letting him sleep on his tummy because of suffication, bruising, or even hurting an organ- train him to sleep on his back.

However, they don't do much good once your baby gets older and can fight the thing more.
But yeah. My baby sleeps on her side too.
