I have 6k! No end in sight. No middle. Most of a beginning. And very cod historical novel. As this demonstrates...

Mr Hale must have been outside and had been caught in the rain. He smelled fresh and wild, dark hair standing on end from where he was scrubbing at it with a cloth. His white shirt was made of such a fine linen that it was practically translucent, clinging to Mr Hale’s skin, his torso. His muscular, athletic body.

7900 words. I have a beginning and the beginning of the middle...
I really have to buckle down and get this hammered out in the next 13 days.

snippet. laugh all you want because of the Guns N' Roses lyrics, but I really was thinking more Marina V when I wrote it. :D?

"Ten years ago, music was everywhere. Before it was regulated I went to a couple of shows with my sister. She liked pop-punk," Derek says.

"My mom used to sing to me. She had a good voice," Stiles says. Derek can smell old grief there. "She'd whisper to me that we had to keep it a secret, and not to sing in front of anyone."

Derek nods. "What kind of songs?"

Stiles shrugs. "I don't know, just … songs. I never thought about what kind they were. There was this one, that went, um..." He flushes but starts to sing, "Give me a whisper and give me a sigh, give me a kiss before you tell me goodbye, don't you take it so hard now, and please don't take it so bad, I'll still be thinking of you and the times we had... I think she knew she'd die, you know? I haven't tried to ( ... )

I'm completely done and the story is with my editor/beta reader. I think she'll have it back to me by Sunday.

And here's a snippet:

Nick didn’t wait for another admonishment; he let himself run faster than his human partner. He was almost to the amazingly fast girls when another boy joined them, holding what Nick knew to be a lacrosse stick. Only, instead of a net at the end, it was a wickedly sharp-looking blade.

“What’s going on?” Allison shouted at the Hawaiian-looking young man.

“Another pack took Stiles!”

Both girls cursed. A crossbow appeared in Allison’s hand.

Nick didn’t bother questioning, instead he passed them. He could just see the two boys up ahead. Whatever they were, they moved damn fast.

Another howl rang out.

I want to read this. Oh yeah. I love Grimm, although I haven't really stepped into the fandom yet (I fear it miht swallow me whole (and/or be filled with hilarious bad French)).

Thank you! I hope you'll like it when you do. As for the Grimm fandom . . . honestly, as far as I can tell, it's tiny, itsy bitsy. My OTP in that fandom is even tinier. Like, I can count on one hand how many fics there are for that pairing. However, my fic is Derek/Stiles only.

It IS a tiny fandom- what is your pairing? I think the majority I've seen is Nick/Monroe or Nick/Renard. I am just firmly in camp Nick. Can't wait until the season re-starts.

Hey, I don't have Word. I always send files in RTF format which opens in Word with no problem. I hope that's okay.

13 days. Crap!

I'm at 16K currently. I have the beginning and middle, just... Struggling to get to the end.

Snippet:

Stiles may or may not have taken a peek at the man’s police record. The Sunnydale Police Department was not very proactive about sealing juvenile records and he’d gotten a glimpse of Alexander Lavelle Harris’s life pre-clean living. He’d never been arrested, but had been brought in for questioning several times. Two of those times were for suspicious circumstance deaths and once when his high school had blown up. The SPD had dismissed the former instances as accidental -- seriously, who in the world fell onto barbecue forks and pierced their carotid artery -- and the later as a gas main rupture.
