Trying again to find a beta for at least one story ....

May 26, 2014 06:31

As always looking for a beta (or just anyone who might be able to look over roughly 7k every two week at least for SpaG) for Always an Alpha, a very longish, plotty story mainly focusing on Pydia and some rather large problems from the Nemeton ritual (it is Season 3A AU).

Title: Always an Alpha
Genre: Supernatural/Mystery
Pairings/characters: Peter/Lydia
Type of beta you'd like: SpaG, but would love someone who points out were I should tell less and show more, where the flow could be better, where the sentence structure is awkward, that stuff ... I doubt that at this point anyone could do plot development help given how far into the story I am
Length, or word count: posted about 140k, got 70k more already written and I'm about halfway through the plot.
Short Summary:
Going with the end of 3A, in mood and spirit, this somewhat longish story begins the day before Lydia's 17th birthday. After waiting for months for the supernatural onslaught due to giving power to the Nemeton, it finally is happening and for weeks strange murders committed by wild animals are happening around Beacon Hills.

Being alone at home, Lydia is visited by Peter, who has his own scheme going on. Using Lydia for a rather despicable ritual, that has far reaching effects for both of them, Peter then offers his help: to Lydia for developing her powers and also in stopping the killings - something that Lydia and her banshee powers are the key for anyway.

Just asking again, because I'm not giving up hope. If anyone likes to look at either of these below ... even a few pages would help me, so if you're like, can't do 15k, just look at the first three pages, if you like and then maybe in another month or two I find someone who does another three and that way I get there.

As always I'd be really grateful for help, I notice a temporary improvement whenever I have a beta who points out even a moderate amount of stuff, but I'm usually on my own again, so it doesn't go anyway as I keep being stuck reading my old stuff and you just soak in your old mistakes again.

I don't mind polite little help, especially if that gets my SpaG in order. I never fault anyone for being super shy and feeling uncomfortable with saying too much, I'll do my best as a writer to make you feel welcome to say stuff and point out my failures. I'm just grateful for the help, I really am.

HOWEVER, if you're a vicious editor who loves leaving gdocs in the virtual equivalent of a page full of red ink, I'm your girl. You can't point out too much, I'd be happy to hear were I'm too detailed or need to go into things more. I don't mind being shown a version of sentence that flows better but a 'reword this sentence it sucks' or 'this isn't clear' I just do it and worst ask for clarification if I can't figure out what needs to be done.
