Age of Consent

I thought I was clear, but I guess not, so I apologize. This meme does not allow under 16 prompts. 16 is the most common age in the show, and it would be hard to have a meme otherwise. But we do not allow ages below 16 in prompts. We don't want to get TOS'd. For the purposes of this meme, 15 us chan/shota/hardcore underage. There have been some chan ( Read more... )

have you guys thought about getting a delicious or pinboard account for prompts/fills? Either is great for navigation of fills/prompts by pairing, rating, completion status, and themes. Just sayin'

There is actually a delicious, but it hasn't been updated in a year. They could make a post requesting someone to staff it?

That really makes no sense. This is not the only kinkmeme on livejournal; avengerskink was for a few weeks one of the most visited communities on LJ (per Livejournal's general community rating) and they allow underage (under 15) prompts, and they have not gotten TOS'd. So I don't understand why you think teenwolfkink is somehow special in that regard.

Also, isn't one of the characters (Erica) canonically 15? Does that mean all prompts about Erica get deleted?

Not sure about Erica being 15 or older as everywhere I have looked doesn't specify her age. As for this meme being special, no, I don't think so. There are several other memes that do not allow underage, including the very successful masseffectkink.

It is our policy to follow the TOS as much as possible while still having a functional kmeme. This is how we are doing it.

Just wanted to let you know that there are prompts on the SPN meme that involve children in sexual situations under the age of 12 sometimes, yet they've never gotten barred from LJ.

It seems a little extreme to state that teenwolfkink might get removed because of under 16 or 18 prompts. This is fiction after all; there are no children actually involved, regardless of the imaginary situations they are being put into.

Actual published novels can include underage sex with impunity... but people writing fanfiction (which is, of course, infringing on copyright law in the first place) can't?

We are following the TOS as much as possible while still allowing for a functional kmeme. Under 16 has been the rule since this community was started, and the fact that people are now aware of the rule (which has always been in the FAQ) is causing problems. This rule is not changing just because people have not fully read the FAQ. I made this post so people who have not read the FAQ and Rules would be aware, but it isn't a sudden and new thing.

This is pretty ridiculous, and I'm getting really tired of anon kink-memes that have these types of rules. If you as a mod are uncomfortable with kinks, including illegal ones, in writing, then you should not be running an anon meme. Leave it to people who are fine with that. That's the point of an anon meme. Really it should be up to the reader to follow or not follow the obscenity laws in their area.

TOS or not, the kink memes are not actually on LJ's radar very much. Please try to act like other free-posting anon memes.

Wow. I can't believe people are actually angry about not being able to write underage sex. Ignore them, mods. This is so not the same as policing kinks. I write & read sterek, but I try to remember that it is kinda a problem aboveground. I guess no one else does? :/

Actually, this is EXACTLY what kink policing is. There are a LOT of illegal, obscene things on this meme, and the fact that the mods have drawn a line like this because they're afraid of LJ "shutting them down" for having ILLEGAL, OBSCENE things is ridiculous. It's because the mod isn't comfortable with extreme underage prompts, and for no other reason.

Drawing a line at 16 and citing Californian AOC laws- WHICH DO NOT ALLOW FOR CONSENT AT 16 unless the partner is less than three years older (which Derek Hale is NOT)- is pure bullshit.
