UPDATE: protest is now listed as starting at 5:00, and Bannon isn't coming or has canceled. However, Kellyanne Conway will still be present as far as anyone knows, and the protest is still going to happen. FB event here, with further info: the protestors will meet at JFK Park. I'm not sure which park that is, but it's given as being at 95 JFK ( Read more... )

There's a protest on Wednesday 11/30, starting at 4:00 p.m., outside the Kennedy School at Harvard.

Thank you for the information. In case you have not seen, you can now add "Explicitly Anti-Black Trash Fire" to his list of honorifics.

Has Harvard given its reasons for offering a platform to Bannon and his fellow fascists, other than deep hatred of many of their students and/or institutional spinelessness?

Oh God yuck.

As far as I know, no one from Harvard has stated anything about this, no. The information is coming from this Crimson article:

https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2016/11/28/bannon-managers-at-iop/

To clear up my earlier wording, it doesn't look like anyone's saying Bannon is going to speak at the Institute of Politics, but Harvard has invited him to be present and he is currently expected to be there. Their reason for summoning him (from the bowels of hell, to be precise) is probably just that "well, he worked on the campaign, and we want to hear from people who worked on the presidential campaign for both candidates..."

Oh God yuck.

I'm sorry. I know this kind of news is like pointing out dog crap in the street, except it's too late, everybody's stepped in it already, including the people who thought they were bicycling or taking the bus or just staying home that day.

Their reason for summoning him (from the bowels of hell, to be precise) is probably just that "well, he worked on the campaign, and we want to hear from people who worked on the presidential campaign for both candidates..."

Okay, that was bad fact-checking on my part, I rescind my comments about hatred and/or spinelessness except for the part where I kind of don't care if he worked on the campaign, you don't have to behave as though any of these people are reasonable or normal or just another cog in the political machine. Oh, but they are giving a platform to Kellyanne Conway. Good job there. Seriously, Harvard.

Nah, you're doing the right thing there -- please keep me informed so I don't step in the pile of crap! My flinch was from the news, not the messenger.

Who's Kellyanne Conw... *thirty seconds of research* Ah. The smarmy mouthpiece of the gang. I should have figured.
