I guess I am one of the few that did like Universe. I thought it was a different take on the SG franchise, and more character driven, instead of the battle-the-alien-of-the-week show. Yes, some of the shows/plots were far fetched or disjointed compared to the previous week's show, but I was willing to overlook that. I will be sad to not see more shows.
I think TPTB bit off more than they could chew -- I swear, those guys were their own worst enemy. In retrospect, I honestly believe we were watching their mid-life crisis on the screen.
Apparently Delicious is up for sale, and they made the announcement in part to cause a big outcry so that they could prove to potential buyers its worth.
Which doesn't mean I won't spend part of Christmas break sorting through links and copying the worthwhile ones elsewhere, but . . .
rheasilvia said her flist was in an uproar... mine, not so much. Or at all. In fact, she's the only one who mentioned it.
I confess, unless you got people to pay you for using it, I don't see how you'd make money on Del.icio.us -- and asking for money up front can backfire on you. I suppose that's what would happen: anyone who bought Delicious would then turn around and ask the people who use it for money. But Diigo is still free, so a lot of people would simply say, "no!" and "bye-bye!", because the kind of people who use Delicious are going to have a certain level of savvy and they won't be afraid of importing into another site.
I did pay for an unlimited membership to Librarything, and know a bunch of people who did that, too, so asking upfront can work. They were clever to link it to the number of books you were allowed to register.
Are you on Librarything? Why did I not know that? I've found it a lifesaver, because with all the double-stacked books in this apartment, I'd developed a bad habit of buying things twice.
I'm teenygozer on Librarything. We did have a convo about it when I started using it (you mentioned that you'd posted about it in the past in response to my saying I'd never heard of it!)
I've only got a fraction of the books I own on Librarything, but it's mostly the good ones. I've actually sworn to rid myself of a good 50% of my library -- specifically books I don't want or need or read anymore. I had a stack of children's books that I've offered to actual children for Xmas this year, which is nice because their parents are out of work, and every present counts.
