my obsessive compulsive journal writing started in a similar fashion, in that i would fill unfinished marble notebooks from school. only i'm a packrat and meticulously save all of them and they're on my shelf at home going back to 4th grade. but i also tend to forget what has been written in what (because i had short story notebooks for a while in addition to journals...) so there's often the surprise element.
