I was trying to make a point about the names of vegetables that are different in England and America, but the point was quickly derailed when my two Iranian friends noted that "arugula" sounds more like the name for a monster than like a type of salad. That's pretty much true.

I have a Dutch exchange student in my house right now. whenever I talk about vegetables, I have to use the British names, like when I ask for the zuchinni I get a blank stare. funny how it affects that interaction too
