Technically Obama isn't anti-gay. Although he did make a statement to the effect that he believes marriage is an institute between a man and a woman, his voting records and other activities at least reflect that although he personally holds marriage as one man one woman he believes that gay people should have the right to enter a civil union and be afforded the same rights within that union as a traditional married couple. It's somewhat of a semantics quibble that he takes the word marriage to be defined as a man and woman, but he is open to allowing a gay couple the same rights and luxuries afforded to married couples, he just defends the definition of the terminology
( ... )
Hmm, I guess I shouldn't say anything if I don't know the whole story. It is nice that he'd let gays marry no matter his thoughts.
As for the abortion, I believe that if you are raped you should have the baby, and put it up for adoption. Sure it's not the greatest life, but at least the child is alive. I'm not really in favour of killing the baby if it might save the mother and the baby was doomed either way, but I can except it. I just see abortion as bad as killing the baby after it's born. It the same thing in the womb as it is out.
so just posing a question. you said you aren't really in favor of killing the baby if it might save the mother and the baby was doomed either way?
So if a young woman was raped and conceived a child and it was known to her that the baby would not survive birth and the birth could possibly kill her, do you believe it is morally right for her and the baby to both die or for her to abort the baby who has no chance of living to save her, a young woman who still has much more to experience.
Just tossing that out there. Personally i've already given my views on pro choice, and a lot of them equal courtney's. I would kind of like to know your view because personally if God wasn't going to allow the child to be born anyways wouldn't it be just for her to abort the child to save herself?
That's a pretty good point. I know that if I was in that situation I'd probably forget my beliefs and abort the child though I see it as morally wrong. I know why people would do it seeing as I'd probably do it myself, but I doesn't mean I think it's right. I know it sounds confusing since I sound like I'm for it and against it at the same time, but as I said before: I'm not in favour of it, but I'll except it.
