Brief (around 300 words) personality outline of your character:

Whatever Karis may have been before her death and subsequent resurrection as a zombie, she is now a cold-blooded killer, willing to kill anyone who gets in her way. In fact, she has a distinct streak of sadism to go along with the apparent misanthropy, which she enjoys putting to use. She is ruthless, single-minded, and utterly devoted to the destruction of her chosen enemy and the completion of whatever mission has been assigned to her.

However, this is tempered by her fanatical loyalty to the Undercity and close friends (and, to a degree, her remaining dregs of humanity). She will gladly throw herself into certain death for the Undercity and will not tolerate threats to its existence or well-being. For her friends (if and when she makes them; her general misanthropy and antagonism toward the living makes it a bit difficult), she is always willing to back them up in a fight or offer them a degree of solace, even if it’s “advice” such as, “Why not just kill him?” A rampant cynic, she tends to use sarcasm and her dark sense of humor to mock those she does not like or enjoy being around or even her friends when she feels like teasing them.

If someone isn’t her friend, they will be met with abuse or indifference until her trust is won over. If she’s in a good mood, she’ll probably just tease them a bit and insult them. If she’s in a bad mood, she might simply hurt them. Unfortunately, she is in a bad mood more often than not, thanks mainly to her short temper (and general hateful outlook on life). She has been trying to control her temper and over the years has managed to bring it under control, to the point where she isn't picking a fight with everyone she runs into.

Despite the demeanor of cold indifference and general hatred she gives off, she does have private insecurities. She wonders if any of her humanity remains and any scraps that do, she desperately clings to, as well as her last remaining vestiges of life. Deep down she loathes her condition and ultimately fears a second death; she knows only the void and oblivion waits for her and she does not yet want to go into the dark. In a similar vein, she has buried thoughts on the ultimate fate of her family and has considered trying to track them down on more than one occasion.

Brief (around 500 words) history and background of your character OR link to a really good wiki page with their history. In either case, explain where they cut off from the timeline:

Karis started life as the oldest child of two farmers in Northern Lorderaon shortly before the outbreak of the Second War. Some of her first memories were of her father returning from the fighting, thankfully unharmed. Her home life was good, even if she did work have hard to help her family with the crops and livestock. She grew into a responsible young woman, as her parents had several more children and more often than not she was tasked with watching or looking after them.

As she grew older, she grew restless with simple farm life and at age seventeen enlisted in the Lorderaon infantry as swordsperson. It was a hard at first, but she grew to enjoy it. The drill, the camaraderie - it was something she had been looking for. The food was only decent, though.

She served in this capacity as a footman for several years, including a brief stint as an internment camp guard. She was still a member of the army the outbreak of the Third War and the subsequent Scourge attack on Lorderaon and Arthas' regicide. She fought bravely in several minor engagements against the undead hordes, but was eventually killed in combat (or, as she likes to put it "In the middle of bumfuck nowhere."). This was not to be the end of her story. She was brought back from beyond to serve Arthas and the Lich King, which she did with remarkable efficiency. With no memories of her previous life, she had no compunctions with helping her fellow Scourge slaughter human and elf alike as the Scourge burned its way across northern Azeroth.

However, when the Lich King's control weakened she regained her memories and her free will. Faced with an obvious choice between slavery and freedom, she swore loyalty to Sylvanas, the Banshee Queen, and assisted (in the role of a infantryman) in the eradication of Scourge forces within Tirisfal and Silverpines. She found the time to finally return to her family's farm, but found it burned out and abandoned. She has never learned of her family's final fate, whether they died, became Scourge, or escaped south to the Kingdom of Stormwind. Since then, she has served the Forsaken cause (and, by extension, the Horde and Thrall) with unswerving loyalty.

As the years passed, war clouds gathered. The Blood Elves, exiles from the Alliance, joined the Horde in order to survive. On the war front, Karis, along with other soldiers of the Horde and the Alliance journeyed to the orc homeworld of Draenor, passing through the Dark Portal to bring war to the Burning Legion, an organization of demons bent on wiping out all life in the universe. With that threat temporarily stayed, the Forsaken and the Horde were finally able to turn their attention to Arthas; the Lich King. Her personal life had taken a turn for the better - she befriended a Blood Elf named Ter'thelas Baelion and the two had become fast friends, watching each others' backs in combat and proving a potent team. This would prove to be a deep and lasting friendship, one that would endure through the years to come.

A combined offensive smashed its way through Northrend and Arthas was ultimately slain. Karis did not play a personal part in the fight atop Icecrown Citadel, although she was present, fighting alongside other Horde and Alliance soldiers, as well as the Argent Dawn, when they stormed the gates. Karis, in the meantime, had also joined a Forsaken paramilitary unit - the Scythe of Sylvanas. This militia unit served as a support group for their fellow Forsaken and as a part of the defense force for Forsaken heartland in Tirisfal.

She, along with the other Northrend veterans, returned home in time for their whole world to be shattered. Deathwing, the Dragon Aspect of Earth, smashed his way out of Deepholm and tore the world asunder, changing the face of Azeroth forever. Rattled, Karis and the other Forsaken rallied to their Queen, Sylvanas Windrunner, even as she undertook several expansionst projects. With the world teetering on the brink of disaster and the Horde and the Alliance once more at war, Karis is gleefully prepared to march into battle for the sake of her Queen and her people.

Sample post (just a general, everyday, puttering-around-the-ship post; please include a snippet of dialogue):

Karis growled under her breath as she stalked through the halls. She hated this ship. She hated the people on it. Mostly she hated the fact that she was the only deader. The only deader on a ship full of breathers. And she couldn't even hurt them without getting reprimanded! Where was the justice in that? She was lucky they hadn't decided to kill her yet. Shadow, she missed Ter and the Scythe. If she had Gen or Corv with her or even just a bunch of those good ol' deaders, they could have this ship under the control of the Forsaken faster then you could say “knife”! Of course, there was the small problem of the machine intelligence, but there were usually wires somewhere that could be pulled. There was a noise behind her and she half-turned, yellow eyes glaring balefully as she was snapped out of her rather morbid and murderous daydream.

“Excuse me- Oh God!”

Karis hissed through her sharpened teeth. So not in the mood. “Piss off, breather. Before I decide to give you a new hole.”

The breather bothering her beat a hasty retreat and Karis smiled grimly to herself. Well, that had certainly improved her mood. Maybe she could find something to tinker with....

If the character has magic, mutant, or otherwise metahuman abilities, please explain what they are and outline EXACTLY how they function, as their powers may not work due to the nature of the ship or may need to be limited somehow:

Karis is a zombie. As such she lacks the need to sleep, breathe or otherwise undergo the other necessary actions that most people need to live. She does still need to eat occasionally - although this is usually raw flesh or certain mushrooms. She does not tire, although her body will wear out eventually.

Being a zombie also means that her sense of pain (along with most physical senations) is dulled. She doesn't react the same way to injuries. She won't bleed to death and a broken or dislocated limb will just slow her down - it won't take her out of the fight. In addition lost limbs can simply be reattached with thread and a few other tools. On the flipside, her injuries don't heal naturally. In order to heal her wound she requires either magic (although anything holy related will merely cauterize the wound and/or cause immense physical pain) or the living flesh of a human or other undead. Ingesting living flesh or another undead creature (flesh, ectoplasm, etc,) will allow her to regenerate most injuries.

She is particularly vulnerable to holy magic, which causes her immense pain.

She is very resistant to mind controlling effects.

Non-superhuman special abilities of note (Is your character a master ventriloquist? A naturally-occurring super-genius? The best martial artist in the world? Say so here):

Karis is an extremely skilled and capable hand-to-hand combatant. She is versed in everything from poleaxes to a sword and shield. She is also familiar with firearms and how to use explosives.

Karis is also a skilled engineer. In her own world's terms this means she has the ability to make a large number of devices - mostly steampunked inspired and verging on magitek. This includes a gun capable of turning people into chickens temporarily, a minature gyrocopter, rocket fuel, a primitive motorcycle, many kinds of firearms, explosives and other ranged weapons, and a variety of other useful devices, such as a parachute cloak, rocket boots and a bolt gun.

In practice, she knows how to use tools, repair machines, create explosives, craft firearms and otherwise tinker.

She is capable of surviving in the wild, as well as fishing. She also knows basic first aid.
