Have been asking the same question since ty turns one… when should I stop breastfeeding ty? When should I start to wean? Ty just turns 18 months and I’m still nursing him. You're right, there is no good time to wean a baby from bfdg. Another interesting thing I observed in the differenced in recommended food intake in US and Singapore, is that they stress that babies have to be on whole milk by age 1. That the nutrients in whole milk is vital to their healthy growth. But when I would offer whole milk to Naia while in Singapore, everyone would be so surprised cus they think she would still be on formula.

One thing's for sure, no matter how much longer you will be bfdg Ty, he will need iron in his diet since that is not sufficient in breastmilk. Breastmilk has superior quantity and quality of nutrients than whole milk or formula but iron is just one of them that is lacking. So try and include iron-rich food in his diet.

Good for you! Do what you feel is right and when he is reading, he will begin to wean himself.

Really? I'm surprise about the whole milk thingy by age 1 too! I always thought that formula milk is always best for babies. Yeah I heard about the iron lacking in Bmilk when babies turn 1, great that you reminded me!

Thanks for the encouragement, really need that!
