Roald Dahl already used The Witches, so I'd go with Witches. It's direct, too. I like that about it.

Generally I dislike when band names start with "The," but if you're talking about a book, in my mind, "The Witches" seems a hair better. Maybe even "The Witches' _____________" -- if you can think of something clever to put behind it, so that it stands out more. The Witches' Brew? The Witches' Trials (if you want to make a goofy pun on witch trials to instead mean the struggles of a witch) heh Heck, I dunno what I'm babbling about. :)

Roald Dahl had a book called The Witches, but there might be something out there called Witches, not sure. Both are good.

I agree with you---Witches is better in this case. When I look for a book, I want something with a title that's direct and hits me in the face. 'The Witches' makes me feel like I'll eventually approach some particular witches, but being that they are referred to as THE witches makes me feel like I won't give a rat's ass about them because they already think they're the shit...you know, being witches and all. Now, 'Witches,' on the other hand, makes me know I'm going to be real sorry I ventured out and found myself among those particular people. It also doesn't imply that the people who are going to be referred to as witches are stereotypically 'witches'; they could be just anyone, which lends itself to a real interesting story.

Know what I mean?
Hope that helps! :)
