does anyone else ever get this thing where your heart feels like it flutters and sorta takes your breath away?

mine has been doing that for the past few months...i didn't notice it before i started drinking coffee, i don't know if its related, but it makes me feel as if i'll have some sort of anxiety attack becasue i think my heart isn't working correctly. I'm a piece of work.

YES! that's totally what happens to me. it actually triggered an anxiety attack tonight.

i heard that some people's bodies aren't set up to metabolize caffeine....maybe you have that too?

i ate 3 hershey's kisses today and i believe that tiny amt of caffeine is what fucked me up. i still feel off!

That happens to me many times a day, usually when I'm studying or thinking about money or my grades. Or it happens out of the blue when I'm actually enjoying myself, as if reminding me that I should be studying. I really can't wait until this semester is over.

My point? It's probably stress-related.

lots of things could be happening. sainte_4 March 21 2006, 14:52:48 UTC
1) it could actually be something going on in your heart. for many people, they have an arrhythmia that is called sinus arrhythmia, where the heartbeat has all normal components, but fluctuates, and sometimes, it speeds up to the point where it kind of startles you. this is probably not likely (although common).

2) anxiety attack. that is what happens to me when i have one. it freaks me out, which makes it worse.

3) being overcaffeinated will do that as well, as mentioned above.

ta-da. i'm a dork.

THANK YOU for the info. i'm pretty sure it's a combo of diet & stress. it's just so scary when it happens! i totally had an anxiety attack afterwards too...

thanks for the peace of mind. i had to wear a halter monitor when i was like 28 because of this and they found nothing...i'm pretty sure it's diet/stress related.

Yes, I get that sometimes. Not often, but when I do, it's almost always followed by a panic attack. (Of course, I have plenty of panic attacks that don't start off with that, so who knows?)
I have, however, had my heart checked out to be sure it wasn't anything like that, and they found nothing wrong with me. So it's probably nothing for you as well. If it happens a lot, you should go to the doctor just to be sure. But if it's only occasionally, then you likely have nothing to worry about. :)

i thinbk it was stress. i did have a bad anxiety attack right afterwards. i think it's because i've been eating a lot of carbs. i know that might sound silly...but i think it's true.

Dude, I'm on like the ALL-CARB diet! Hahaha! That probably explains why I always feel like shit. :P
