I've got a big mouth. I know, but I need to learn to control it. On Monday I presented to the board, and I said something that I probably shouldn't have, others had to talk me out of a bad position. I wasn't too concerned then, it really wasn't that big a deal ( Read more... )

I am a gossip, you have a big mouth. They are different things. You just say stuff and mean no harm. I say stuff to deliberately hurt feelings.
You have called me both Kirby and Nolan many times. You say Kirby's name all the time cause you always say her name, cause she is your wife, and you talk to her more then anyone. You tell Nolan you love him because you do.
I wonder about the things I say sometimes. Like my need to always be talking. I feel like I just say stuff I shouldn't just so I can keep talking. But strangely enough, I have always been able to stop myself before I called Abe 'Miller'.

These are a bit different than just saying I love Nolean. I'm sure Kirby can tell the difference. It's moer compulsive, like I say it several times in 5 minutes.

It's funny though how everyone can find fault with their own communication style if they reflect on it. It's easy to forget we're all human.

The disorder you are looking for is honesty with a duel diagnosis of verbal hyperactivity. Is there a chance that this "tourettes" increases with beer consumption?
With any luck these little slips of brutal honesty will get you out of these presentations, that you said you didn't really feel comfortable with in the first place.

I like the term verbal hyperactivity.

I think they're reduced with beer consumption. I hadn't had anything to drink since last weekend until after I wrote the post.

I worry more that the presentations are an integral part of my job description and that problems with them will limit my utility in my role.

Well, you better learn to lie by omission or get really creative with your descriptions of the truth.
